Olivier Buisard is a man of many talents who loves code.

He entered the Joomla world as an extension developer, and then got involved in developing the Joomla core, where he continues to help the community with his knowledge. Today he tells us how he managed to contribute and how he combines the two activities.

User of Joomla, you probably know that Joomla is an open-source content management system (CMS) that is licensed under the GPL version 2 or later as are the extensions published in the Joomla! Extensions Directory (JED).
But did you ask yourself about the main reasons for this choice and the impact on Joomla and its extensions?

Rolf Dautrich was a professional in IT and one day he was asked to create a website, and he chose Joomla. Since this time, this site has got some brothers and sisters. As he described himself, he is a hobbyist who doesn't create websites commercially, only for “friends and family”. Let's listen to his story, which has followed the development of Joomla from the outset and throughout version changes.

Usually, the people who volunteer to answer our questions are heavily involved in either the Joomla community or the Joomla project, or sometimes both. Mayank Sahu has just joined the community, but he's no newcomer to Joomla. He has years of development experience behind him, particularly on Joomla, and he explains his choice of profession to us.
He's keen to get involved if time permits, so let's welcome him and listen to his story.
