In my first article, I posed the idea that Joomla! could be the next "killer app" for professional writers. In this article, I compare Joomla to commercial help development tools and, hopefully, provide writers with a compelling case for switching to Joomla. I think Joomla offers the best path forward in the evolution of help development.

It's easy to take custom content types for granted these days. After all, Joomla 3.2 has core advances that make many CCKs seem totally unnecessary. Despite these improvements, clients still value a tailored experience. From the site form to the final layout, a custom content type will give your clients a simplified publishing platform.

La più importante funzionalità rilasciata con la versione 3.2 di Joomla!, a mio avviso, è senza dubbio la cosidetta "Joomla Extension Finder aka Install from Web", permette di installare le estensioni presenti nel JED (Joomla Extensions Directory) in maniera semplice e rapida comodamente dal pannello di controllo.

I've long believed in the virtues of Open Source. I'm not well known in the Joomla community, I haven't spoken at any Joomla events or worked on the core project, but I've always tried to do my part: proselytizing Joomla, providing free (anonymous) tech support to new users, and donating beer money to promising developers. But there was always a blind spot. I'd like to tell you about the time I failed Joomla and didn't even know it.

Among the many new features released with version 3.2 of Joomla!, the one that most caught my interest, and perhaps one of the less publicized but certainly very useful for administrators and interesting for developers, is the so-called "post-installation messages". These inform the site administrator about features that require your attention after the successful installation of an extension.

With the upcoming Joomla! CMS releases, the new MVC will play a major role. Through my Google Summer Of Code project, I've taken the initial steps for that.

This article follows the introductory article in Joomla magazine July issue (https://magazine.joomla.org/issues/issue-july-2013/item/1366-module-modernization). In this article, I will briefly introduce some of the new modules which will be added to Joomla in near future and few of the new features such as module ACL and global configuration.

As a technical writer, I think Opensource Matters is missing an important marketing opportunity by not targeting Joomla! at the professional writing community. By "professional writing community," I don't mean novelists, poets, or publishing company editors (though, Joomla! would be great for them too) - I mean professional writers in the corporate world: technical writers, instructional designers, and marketing personnel. While the professional writing community is a smaller, more-niche market than the corporate CMS market and the software development community, I have thought for some time that Joomla! could be the next "killer app" for professional writers.

I sometimes come across Joomla sites that are built only for blogging. There are a lot of possibilities: you can use Joomla native , K2, and all sorts of CCKs.
