Love databases? I do too. I’ve always loved working with structured data, and that passion led me to develop a smart, dynamic way to migrate content from WordPress to Joomla. No scripts, fewer hardcoded hacks - a clean model and maintainable design.

When a core component like Weblinks was decoupled, it created a maintenance challenge. My Google Summer of Code project had a clear mission: bring this useful extension up to modern Joomla 5 standards, not just for end-users, but as a public example of high-quality development and testing practices.

When I first read about the GSoC 2025 AI Framework project, I was intrigued but completely unprepared. My background was in machine learning and deep learning- totally different beasts from AI API integration. I had zero experience with APIs, no clue about AI integration in websites, and honestly, no idea how to even start. But curiosity won. I had seen other CMS platforms embracing AI capabilities and wondered: why not Joomla? AI is what everyone is seeking right now, and Joomla! could take a significant step forward by integrating AI into its platform. 

You may know it already: Joomla will celebrate its 20th birthday next month, on August 17 to be precise. Twenty years of working together to make every new version the best Joomla ever, twenty years of enabling people to learn, contribute and rise up above themselves, twenty years of community, friendship and freedom. That calls for a celebration. But actually, the Joomla Community Magazine is doing that every month. With each new issue, with each article, we spread the Joomla love, share our knowledge, and encourage people to join us. We have how-to's and tutorials as well as stories and news from our community and interesting reads about what's happening around us. I hope you enjoy this month's issue, and don't forget: Joomla is worth celebrating every day!

June 2025 marks a significant milestone that I'm incredibly proud to share with the Joomla community—the second anniversary of our Guided Tours team, a dedicated group that has transformed how users experience and learn Joomla.

In May 2025, the United Nations Digital Technology Network adopted a new set of Open Source Principles. These principles provide guidelines to promote collaboration and the adoption of open-source technologies for digital projects within the UN and globally, and they're all about open, secure and inclusive global digital collaboration.
