Everyone has their own story behind '10 years of Joomla'. Most of us haven't witnessed the entire decade, or followed every area of the Joomla ecosystem, ranging from development, leadership, community, extensions, templates, frameworks, documentation, events ... but there's one common topic you'll find every Joomler agrees on: our community has some great people in it. So I thought I would write something up about some of the remarkable people I met. There will be no names, because in reality, many Joomlers fit each of these descriptions -- feel free to think of your favorite person while reading. For me, it's a small way of saying thanks for making Joomla possible.

JoomlaDay Brasil 2015: The Biggest in History

The Joomla! Community in Brazil, Joomla! users and people interested in Open Source Software got together in September in Brazil's Capital Brasília to celebrate the Joomla! 10th anniversary and learn more about the CMS. Attendees came from 12 different Brazilian states and we had international guests from Argentina, Guatemala, Greece, India, Netherlands and Spain. More than 500 people were involved in 18 lectures and 7 workshops that happened from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. - besides meetings with Brazilian government departments and a national meeting of Joomla User Groups (JUGs).

Power to the People!

Hard to believe it was only 10 years ago when Joomla was first introduced to the community. Back then, ( am I really saying " back then" for only 10 years? ) Joomla 1.0 was just introduced and I was enchanted by the power of the open source community and under the hood looking at code, scouring the forums, trying to make sense of it all. For me and my fledgling consulting business my customers loved my technical prowess with HTML but hated calling for every little change they wanted to make. It just didn't seem right they couldn't update their site by themselves and I agreed totally but had no answer for them until Joomla!.
