Short, TED-style presentations and lots of content: this was the format chosen by JUG Joomla Calango for Joomla Day Brasília 2014, which happened on November 21th. It was the 5th Joomla Day organized by the community, in Brasilia and the first one to use this dynamic format.
It all started with this email: Congratulations! we are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to participate in the Joomla Event Travel Program (JET) and attend the Joomla World Conference (JWC14) in Cancun from November 7 to 9, 2014! Needless to say, my joy was great because I was going to meet people with whom I am friends and share on forums, chats, hangouts etc... I would also get to see people I met at the last conference in Boston, Massachusetts JWC 2013. In short, I could not hide my joy to have been selected to go to Mexico to meet people just as passionate as I am about Joomla.
Every now and then the Joomla project organizes a Code Sprint. The purpose of a sprint is to improve a specific area of the Joomla ecosystem, this can be the code, documentation or something else. During a sprint a group of people with expertise in this specific area are brought together in one place. Not online but offline, real life meetings. Nothing beats a face-to-face meeting if you want to make things happen.
For the Polish Joomla community, last year was a revolution! From December 2013 to June 2014 our community organized six new Joomla User Group meetings. I want to share our model of creating awesome JUG meetings so that it can help others, and for them to see how to do JUG meetings for free (without any cost).
There are many Joomla events to wrap-up 2014 including one of the year’s largest events, the Joomla! World Conference. Joomla! For the third time a JoomlaDay took place in Mexico, this year on July 17-18, a 2-day event organized by the Official Mexico City JUG. I can summarize the #JdayMX14 by saying that it was: participatory, international, and with many new faces.
Meetings between Joomla! enthusiasts surprise me each time! These EXCELLENT people who want to study in order to know everything about Joomla. Relationships become something more than only a common training, work, or doing business. Warmly, I thank you for the time spent together and these happy moments together. Our first Lower Silesia meeting of Joomla enthusiasts was held on the first day of holidays, June 6, 2014. I will repeat it once again: IT WAS EXCELLENT!
