This month we talked to Philip Walton from the London Joomla User Group. Philip’s also the Joomla CMS Release Team Leader. During COVID-19 he’s been keeping the patch testing process ticking along with Bugs & Fun @ Home, which is how I came to meet him virtually back in April this year.

On May 16, 2020, the Privacy Compliance Team announced the release of the Joomla! Identity Portal, a new website that is meant to serve as the home for all Joomlers’ personal data and as Single Sign On service to access all the *.joomla.org websites.

This month we had the chance to interview Marco Biagioni, the man behind J! Extensions Store, a renowned brand in the Joomla sphere, with its flagship JSitemap Pro extension.
Joomla 4 Beta 2 was released at the end of June, taking a further step towards the stable version. It also means that Joomla users are starting to test Joomla 4 and wonder what the migration from Joomla 3 will be like and what will happen to the extensions they currently have installed on their sites.

Martijn Maandag is the Dutch translation coordinator for the Joomla core. He also translates the release announcements for Joomla and puts them on the Dutch Joomla forum https://www.joomlacommunity.nl/, a forum he moderates as well. Besides this, Martijn translates documentation on https://docs.joomla.org and marks documentation for translation, and, if that wasn’t enough already, he also provides translations for several Joomla extensions.
The release of Joomla 4 Beta is getting closer. Reaching this milestone is a crucial moment in the development roadmap of a product, and it means that the stable version is almost there. However, there is still plenty of work to do.

Elisa studied marketing as well as media design and has lots of experience in web development. She knows Joomla, she knows the community and she knows how to get the message to the whole world, which is exactly what she would like to see happen for Joomla.
