Over the last decades, the web has become significantly more social and made communication among companies and users much easier. At the same time, terms such as “privacy” were in many cases underestimated because of the abundance of public shared personal data. Users are dynamically contributing to the content production of the web, and they often get involved in a “game” where their personal data becomes the actual product. It is not unusual for a user to misunderstand that his personal data is information that could be publicly shared without any special protection.

The Joomla 4 Interview Series brings this month Allon Moritz, the New Media Manager Team Lead. We got to know a little about him and what to expect when managing media in the upcoming Joomla 4.

Jab17 was an opportunity for several of our newly-elected members of OSM's leadership to meet with the Joomlers who were attending the conference in Krakow, Poland, for a drink a chat and brainstorming. 

A problem we have faced in our Joomla development work has been ensuring that the correct Google Tag Manager environment code is being deployed with the right environments - for example in our development environments we need to deploy the container code from GTM related to the dev environment, but in production, we need the live container code.

CMS Summit will bring together developers, integrators, designers, experts, and users with other Merge attendees ranging from start-ups, hosting companies, funding, digital media and legal experts to domain owners looking for advice and help with launching their site.  The conference will offer much more than sessions and training by creating a unique networking situation to drive business and commerce.

This story is about volunteering for Joomla and one of our volunteer's favourite bands.  If someone had come to me 13 years ago and asked me to be part of a software project distributed for free, with no salary for employees, I would have laughed and walked away. Now, 12 years into the Joomla project I find myself volunteering more and getting more excited about the future of Joomla.

The Joomla! Extensions Directory (JED) lists nearly 8000 extensions - finding the best one for your website can sometimes be a tedious task. We have all selected an extension that hasn't been quite right for our needs. This article will cover tools available on JED that will aid your search, things to watch out for and tips to assist in making the right decision.

In the past two years, Joomla's outreach has grown beyond the usual JWC, JAB and JoomlaDay's by working with several hosting conferences. Joomla's first experience at HostingCon Global 2016 gave us great insight into the current perception of the project, fantastic advice from media and hosting experts, and opened the door to new sponsorship for the project. This one event showed us how important our visibility outside the core community could be.
