Editors Introduction

You’ve probably seen it on the socials or read about it in earlier issues of the Joomla Community Magazine: next month, the Joomla World Conference will take place in Potsdam, Germany. A lot of JCM team members will attend this event and we’re all looking forward to it. One of the best reasons to be there is that it’s not just a sit-down-and-listen event. We get to meet each other in real life, learn a lot, have fun and do stuff together (for example: there will be a maintenance sprint during JWC, you can read more about that in this issue). We’d love to see you there!

Let your article shine in more than one category.

During Google Summer of Code 2026, I worked on a Joomla feature called Multi-Categories. The idea is: Every item in Joomla (article, contact, banner, news-feed) belongs to a main category and from now on it also can belong to other categories.

A technique from “A Day of Code” - turning a plain data list into a designed component. If you’ve ever built a Joomla site for a conference, a class, or any event with a roster of presenters, you’ve probably reached for a Subform custom field. It’s the natural tool for the job: a repeatable little group of fields - name, position, headshot, bio - that content editors can duplicate as many times as they need, one entry per speaker.
