Joomla! World Conference 2026

You’ve probably seen it on the socials or read about it in earlier issues of the Joomla Community Magazine: next month, the Joomla World Conference will take place in Potsdam, Germany.  A lot of JCM team members will attend this event and we’re all looking forward to it. One of the best reasons to be there is that it’s not just a sit-down-and-listen event. We get to meet each other in real life, learn a lot, have fun and do stuff together (for example: there will be a maintenance sprint during JWC, you can read more about that in this issue). We’d love to see you there!

Also in this issue: your monthly dose of tutorials and how-to’s, the latest updates on the Accessibility Project that aims to enhance Joomla’s state of the art accessibility even more, interviews with our re-elected Vice President and Outreach Department Coordinator, awards to vote for, community news and so much more. Don’t read this editor’s intro, start reading the articles by our fabulous authors!

Joomla turned 21 last month - celebrate with us!

On August 17, 2026, Joomla celebrated its 21st birthday. In case you missed it: it's never too late for a birthday present. Here's a donation form where you can donate exactly 21 dollars to keep your favorite CMS going: https://community.joomla.org/donate?form[amount]=21.

Joomla World Conference - 16-18 October 2026

We've mentioned it earlier: the Joomla World Conference is a fantastic way to get to learn a lot, get to know the people and feel the vibe! Three days of learning, sharing, connecting and fun. Read all about it on the JWC website. Not sure if you should go? We've all been there, and we're all there for you. Broadcast Joomla to a broader audience

Joomla can only grow if you help get this message out to the world:

if you're in search of a flexible, stable, robust, extendable, secure and fast CMS that's completely yours, Joomla is it.

Show your passion for Joomla by:

  • sharing the articles in the JCM on your socials
  • sharing Joomla's social media posts
  • creating videos about Joomla (how-to's, tutorials, explanations)
  • writing blogs about Joomla on your website or your socials

Become a Joomfluencer now 🙂 and let's grow Joomla together! (Or, if you're not the extraverted/creative type: donate, see link above)

About the author

Before I got my current job as Coordinator Communications & Digital, I ran my own company for 25 years. The first 15 years I was a writer / editor / journalist / writing coach, but then I created my first website with Joomla... and I was hooked. I switched careers and became a website developer. My current job combines these two skills, so that's a win-win 🙂

Why I contribute to Joomla

To many people Joomla is just a tool. But if you look a little closer, you'll notice it's much more than that. It's a living system, raised and nourished by a community of volunteers dedicating their time to make it the best CMS ever. Without volunteers, Joomla wouldn't exist. It's not 'just a product'. Everyone who uses Joomla, can do so because someone, somewhere, contributed to it. I want to give back to the community that keeps Joomla alive.

And, probably needless to say: I love being part of that community.

Contributing to Joomla by volunteering brought me so much: valuable experience, more knowledge and a better understanding of Joomla and its community, and the opportunity to work together with a crowd of lovely people all over the world.
