Pizza Bugs & Fun 2026 first edition: Event recap

The Joomla community has once again proven the strength of open‑source collaboration. The latest edition of Pizza Bugs & Fun (PBF) brought together more than 150 participants across 14 countries, uniting contributors of all skill levels for two days of testing, documenting, fixing, learning and yes, sharing pizza.

From Europe to Asia, Africa to North America, the event showcased the truly global heartbeat of Joomla. Participants joined from the UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, Vietnam, Denmark, Greece, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, USA, Kenya, Iran, and India, forming a vibrant, multilingual, multi‑time‑zone network of contributors working toward a common goal: strengthening Joomla for millions of users worldwide.

A Worldwide Effort With Real Impact, Even From Small Contributions

This year’s PBF showed how effective distributed collaboration can be. Whether people gathered in local meetups or joined from home, the activity never stopped. Newcomers had space to learn from experienced contributors, and remote participants kept things moving across time zones.

The result was steady, meaningful progress:

  • 100 tests completed,
  • New documentation created and improved,
  • Many newcomers onboarded into the Joomla ecosystem, thanks in part to local initiatives.

Every contribution, big or small, helped move Joomla forward.

Strengthening Joomla, One Patch at a Time

PBF has always been more than a bug‑fixing sprint. It’s a practical, hands‑on way for people to learn how Joomla works and to contribute in a way that fits their skills.

This year’s progress came from exactly that kind of steady, collaborative work: testing patches, improving documentation, answering questions, and helping new contributors get started. All of it feeds directly into the next Joomla releases, making them more stable, more reliable, and better aligned with current standards. It’s a clear example of how consistent community effort keeps Joomla moving forward.

Not all was perfect, but the importance is to introduce a process that people can learn and follow.

Thank You to Everyone Who Made PBF Special

To every newcomer who took their first step, to every mentor who guided them, and to every organizer who kept things running, thank you.
