The Joomla community has once again proven the strength of open‑source collaboration. The latest edition of Pizza Bugs & Fun (PBF) brought together more than 150 participants across 14 countries, uniting contributors of all skill levels for two days of testing, documenting, fixing, learning and yes, sharing pizza.
If you ever wanted to contribute to Joomla but are not sure where to begin, Pizza Bugs & Fun (PBF) is the ideal first step. On January 30 - 31, the global Joomla community is coming together for two days of learning, collaboration, and hands‑on contribution.
Joomla Pizza Bugs and Fun is an event like no other - for people who are close to its heart or who are just regular users of the platform. It’s where code meets community, and where even the smallest bug fix can spark a wave of collaboration.
I've participated in Pizza Bugs and Fun (PBF) several times, and it's always a fantastic event. It's an opportunity to test, document, and improve Joomla alongside fellow Joomlers, both in person and virtually. The most recent PBF on August 24th saw participation from people in Austria, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kenya, Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA.
A few years ago, I had the chance to meet Troy and during one conversation we had, he introduced me to a project he was working on: Bearsampp. I develop primarily under the Windows environment, which I have grown accustomed to from working at previous companies. I create numerous instances of Joomla for testing and for actual projects, therefore a reliable local server environment is critical. Bearsampp sounded interesting, and, even though I was all set (I thought), I decided to give it a try.

We’ll explain how it works first, and after that, we’ll show you how you can use conditional fields in your Joomla content.
