Birthday wishes from the Joomla Community
Happy birthday to Joomla actually means: happy birthday to you, our community. To the Joomla users, developers, designers, hobbyists and professionals. To the occasional helping hands and the volunteers in it for the long haul. To the drag-and-droppers and the code poets. To the thinkers and the doers. Happy birthday, to us, from us.
Dutch Joomler Martijn Maandag loves to create Joomla-themed food. For Joomla's 20th birthday he suggested to share pics of a couple of the dishes he made, for example: sushi in Joomla colors, a Joomla burger, stroopwafels, and Joomlamisu (which, as we all know, is Klingon for all together).

Time for the birthday wishes now!
Here they are, in random order (I used Viviana's timeline module for the layout):

Happy birthday, dear Joomla! I’m so happy I found you around 2007. So many websites created, so many friends found. And an incredible development for you and for me in the last years. I wish you all the best, further improvements and a lot of new features. And I will be here to help you evolve.

How can one say "happy birthday" to software? Really, one can’t. But one can certainly say "Happy 20th Birthday" to the wonderful community of people - past and present - who have built, nurtured, and championed Joomla over these two decades. Today, I celebrate with you, not just the code, but the friendships, collaborations, and shared experiences that make Joomla so much more than software. Thank you for the many amazing and positive ways you have impacted and blessed my life through our participation together in this vibrant community.
Here’s to the journey so far - and to the exciting chapters ahead. Happy 20th!

Truthfully, Joomla is under immense pressure from the times, especially now, as we stand at a turning point that will greatly impact the web and everything related to it. I hope Joomla can adapt to these changing realities and offer its users something new while staying relevant for many years to come.

My best birthday wishes to Joomla.
May it live at least for another 20 years so I can still run my tiny little home page with it and have some interesting stuff to do in my spare time.

Thank you Joomla, for defining a very large part of my professional career.
Thank you for bringing me opportunities: to learn, to share knowledge, to make mistakes and learn from them, to rise above myself so often I've lost count, and to be part of a community so awesome it scared the living daylights out of me 🙃.
Many have said it already: Joomla is a living thing that wouldn't be there without this weird, magnificent, ever changing group of people who raised it and keep dedicating their time to it.
Happy Birthday to us 💚🧡💙❤️

Happy birthday, Joomla! We've come a long way, and you helped me build websites that my friends and family could update themselves! I grew up with you, and we've gotten pretty close over the years. My best to you, my friend, I can't wait to ride the next chapters with you.

Here’s what I’ll say: websites are just websites. But Joomla websites? That’s interesting. And the people I’ve been lucky to meet thanks to Joomla? Even more interesting!

Congratulating Joomla on its 20th anniversary is like celebrating an old, reliable friend who’s been through fire, water, and dozens of releases.
Joomla isn’t just a CMS. It’s a community, an open-source idea, a platform built on freedom, flexibility, and accessibility from the start. Over 20 years, it has survived the web’s rapid evolution, countless tech shifts, and changing trends - yet remained true to itself and its users.
For me, Joomla isn’t just a tool - it’s part of my life. It’s a way to share knowledge, create useful and beautiful things, and connect with amazing people. Thanks to Joomla, I’ve contributed to global initiatives and the project’s growth.

Happy 20th Birthday, Joomla! 🎉
For the past two decades, Joomla has been more than just a CMS - it has been a source of endless possibilities, creativity, and innovation. I have built everything from websites and mobile applications to powerful custom portals, all thanks to Joomla’s flexibility and strength.
But the true heart of Joomla lies in its community. Over the years, I have met amazing people both in the Netherlands and around the world - many of whom have become very good friends. These connections, collaborations, and shared passions are what make Joomla truly special to me.
From its early days as a strong CMS to the powerful framework it is today, Joomla has proven that open source is about more than just code - it’s about people working together to create something remarkable.
Here’s to celebrating 20 incredible years, and to the next 20 filled with innovation, friendship, and success. Keep inspiring us, Joomla!

Is it already 20 years?
Wow, time flies... hard to imagine that 2 decades have passed since Joomla was born out of its Mambo roots... In all of those years, Joomla has continued to evolve, and empower creators, integrators, marketers, developers, and communities everywhere to share their vision with the world - all while keeping true to our open-source beginnings. This impressive milestone of 20 years is not a celebration of software, but more so of the countless people - the volunteers, developers, testers, and every day users - who have made Joomla what it is today.
As Vice-President of Open Source Matters, I’ve had the privilege over the past 6 months to witness first-hand all of the hard work, passion, and creativity that makes this project so unique and impactful. Joomla’s story is proof that individuals can achieve anything - a real testament to the power of open source, and to the fact that 'all together' great things are possible.
I raise my glass to all those that even in the smallest way have helped make this a reality - Happy 20th anniversary, Joomla! and may the next 20 years be even more innovative, inclusive, and inspiring - let's continue our mission to keep the web open and accessible for all.

Amazes me that something I helped start from behind a crappy old 56k modem is still kicking goals 20 years later. Joomla changed my life both professionally, and personally with all the friends I have made over the years.
Here’s to another fantastic 20 years of Joomla!

Joomla, for 15 years I have spent more time with you than with my human family. You have always been loyal to me, and our relationship has produced many Joomla children. Some of our children are now 15 years old and have made many developmental steps from 1.5 to 5.3 and continue to have good prospects.
I greatly appreciate your reliability, security, accessibility and innovation, and I hope we will continue on this journey together for another 20 years.

A significant part of my life is inextricably linked to Joomla. My first encounter with websites was through Joomla, and my first steps in programming were with Joomla.
I believe the system is on the right development path. I’d even call 2025 a year of growing interest in Joomla. Once again, I wish health and long life to everyone involved in the system’s development - and to Joomla itself, many years of prosperity!

In IT, everything flows and changes. Twenty years is a significant age for software. Joomla unites like-minded people worldwide, and I’m glad to be part of this community. But in times of change, flexibility and responsiveness are key - I hope Joomla continues to provide the tools needed to solve problems for many more years.
I’m deeply grateful to the Joomla community for their warmth and support - it’s priceless. And of course, I wish growth and development to the community as a whole and to every individual in it!

What can I say... Happy anniversary! One more year, and it’ll be old enough to drink vodka legally. 😄 But seriously - this is a major milestone. This CMS has given me so much: work, projects, friends, and a community. I’m grateful to everyone who makes it better, especially the Russian-speaking community - it’s vibrant, warm, and resourceful.
I look at Joomla’s future with cautious optimism. As long as it lives, we’ll keep building great projects on it. And if a new era begins - we’ll meet it armed with the knowledge Joomla has given us.

What has always attracted me - and still does - is the community: the people, their views, and ideas. The chance to connect with like-minded individuals worldwide, to share the same wavelength and passion - that’s what drew me in 20 years ago.
It gave me invaluable experience, opportunities for self-realization, and, of course, income. In many ways, Joomla and its community shaped who I am today. Thank you to everyone who continues to develop the project - you’re doing incredible work.

Twenty years. More than half of my life. That’s how long Joomla has been part of my journey - from my very first experiments building websites as a school project, to finding close friends around the world.
Looking back, I’m grateful for every project, every challenge, and every person I’ve met along the way. Looking ahead, I’m excited for what the next two decades will bring - new technologies, new ideas, and a community that keeps making magic happen.
Happy 20th Birthday, Joomla — here’s to the past we’ve built and the future we’ll create together! 🎉

What I once thought was simply a tool to build a website has, over the past 20 years, become so much more. Joomla has given me not just technology, but friendships, opportunities, and an incredible career.
Because of Joomla, I’ve travelled the world - Spain, Italy, Boston, Austin, Washington D.C., and of course New York City - learning, building, and connecting with amazing people who share the same passion.
The Joomla community has been my source of inspiration, collaboration, and countless smiles for two decades. I’m endlessly grateful for the knowledge, experiences, and relationships it has brought into my life.
Thank you, Joomla, for giving me everything. And thank you to the incredible Joomla! community for being the heart that makes it all possible. Here’s to the next chapter and the exciting growth still to come!

When I first learnt about Joomla all those years ago, I was genuinely delighted to find a CMS that worked the way I wanted it to. On top of that, I’d found a community of like-minded individuals I could relate to and rely on. As we reach this momentous milestone, Joomla is still the benchmark for CMS’s and I can’t wait to see how it evolves over the next 20 years. Happy birthday Joomla!

I use Joomla at work - our corporate website with complex multi-domain setup and client portal runs on it. I also develop various Joomla extensions to fill gaps I encounter.
As Joomla turns 20, I want to thank the Russian Joomla community members who’ve helped me grow professionally, especially: Vladimir Eliseev, Igor Berdichevsky, Artyom Vasilyev, Evgeny Sivokon, Vladimir Sergiyenko, Vadim Kunitsyn, and others I’ve collaborated with in Joomla development.

Happy 20th Birthday, Joomla!
I first stumbled across Joomla by accident during the pandemic. At first, it felt a bit daunting, but as I learned more, I grew to love its flexibility, power, and the global community behind it. Along the way, I’ve made wonderful friends, collaborated on exciting projects, and become part of something truly special.
I’ve seen how Joomla, free, open-source, and endlessly adaptable can power everything from simple blogs to enterprise-level websites. Here’s to 20 years of innovation, opportunity, and empowering people to create without limits, and to a future filled with even more growth, inclusivity, friendship, and inspiration.

I love Joomla. Thanks to everyone who helped, taught, and guided me in using this wonderful CMS. And huge respect to those who contributed to its creation and growth. Yes, there were bugs and mistakes, but I still fell in love with its capabilities and concept. It has given me so many opportunities.

I’m thrilled about this milestone - the project is alive and thriving in a competitive environment. I believe the development team made the right decision to release a new major Joomla version every two years, even if it seemed unlikely at first. This approach solves migration issues, which should no longer trouble site owners after switching to Joomla 4.
Overall, the project is progressing steadily - bugs are fixed, features are added. However, coding skills are still necessary for the best results, so I hope Joomla becomes more flexible and less demanding of specialized knowledge.
