With 160 user groups around the world, there is always something exciting and interesting happening in the Joomla! Community! This is a monthly round-up highlighting new Joomla! User Groups, events, and reviews of JUG meetings. January has been a fairly quiet month in the JUG team, with only one new JUG registration – although several are in the process of becoming registered.

If you're interested in starting up a JUG just visit the directory at community.joomla.org/user-groups.html and see whether there are any nearby. If not, all you need is somebody else to join you in starting the group, and a venue in which to meet. You'll also need some kind of online presence, ideally a website but you can also use Meetup.com or social networks to organise your group while you get a website off the ground.

What's happening?

JUG Sorø in Denmark met on the 8th January and Brian Rønnow from Nowweb gave a talk about JCE editor and the plugin that can be used. This JUG also has an 'Ask the Geek' session where people can raise questions or problems and the members help each other. This was well received and several questions came up which were answered by JUG members.

Joomla User Group Suffolk met on 9th January and Chris Austin from The Internet Consultancy gave a great talk on Responsive Web Design. He covered what RWD is, why it's important, and how to get started with using a base template.
