Celebrating the amazing women of Joomla with Ane Miren Alvarez
The passion for computer science was always one of my favorite topics to discuss. With this in mind I would like to present Ane Miren Alvarez, a talented Web Developer who has implemented the Joomla API within the automation tool Make, an “integration that allows for automated workflows and processes within Joomla” as she describes it.
Could you please introduce yourself?
Hello, my name is Ane Miren Alvarez, and I am from Spain. I recently completed an internship as a Junior Programmer in ACV Multimedia, where I focused on Joomla projects. I have a higher education degree in web development and am excited to start a bachelor's degree in computer engineering this year. I am passionate about computer science and look forward to deepening my knowledge in this field.
Can you tell us about you and your programming-technical skills?
During my web development studies, I learned PHP, Java, JavaScript, CSS/HTML, Laravel, and SQL. In my recent internship, I gained practical experience working with Joomla, managing and developing content management system projects. This background has given me a diverse set of programming skills and a solid understanding of various web technologies. I am eager to continue expanding my technical expertise through my upcoming computer engineering studies.
What does programming-coding mean to you and why?
I started programming in high school, creating basic HTML without CSS in Notepad. I quickly realized that I enjoyed it, which led me to pursue a higher education degree in web development. This experience deepened my passion for coding even further. Now, I am about to study computer engineering to expand my knowledge even more. Programming to me is a journey of continuous learning and discovery, where I can create and solve problems, constantly challenging myself to grow and improve.
What exactly is this API you created for Joomla?
I implemented the Joomla API within the automation tool Make. This integration allows for automated workflows and processes within Joomla, streamlining tasks and improving efficiency. By using Make, I was able to connect Joomla with various other tools and services, enabling seamless data exchange and automation of repetitive tasks.
How can someone utilize this technology?
Anyone interested in automating tasks with Joomla can use the tool I created in Make. It allows for seamless integration between Joomla and various other tools and services. This makes it easier to manage Joomla projects by automating repetitive tasks and facilitating smooth data exchange.
Do you think being a woman in the tech industry makes a difference and how?
I have to say that I don't have enough experience working in the field to see exactly how being a woman in the tech industry makes a difference. However, from my experiences, I’ve noticed that women are often underestimated in this field. While the tech industry is generally male-dominated, my recent internship was an exception, with the majority of the team being women. This was surprising at first, but it created a very positive and supportive work environment.
Would you encourage women to do the same? Why (not)?
Yes, I would encourage women to pursue careers in tech. The field offers exciting opportunities for growth and innovation, and having more women in tech can lead to diverse perspectives and more inclusive problem-solving. While challenges exist, the benefits of contributing to and shaping the future of technology are well worth it.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world as a woman in technology?
I’d like to emphasize that women in technology bring precious perspectives that are essential for invention. It’s important to foster probative surroundings where everyone feels encouraged to contribute their unique ideas. However, don’t be dissuaded by challenges or conceptions, if you’re passionate about technology.
Thank you Ane Miren Alvarez, for being an inspiration to all women who want to code!
So please stay tuned as there are more amazing women of Joomla coming up!

Hi
I am testing and I hope that this will be put into an example of use cases to publish new articles in social networks: facebook, mastodon ...
We encounter a difficulty (I do not know if it comes from joomla or make) to publish a new article by its publication date and not its creation date!
Example:
I want to publish a new article of the day which concerns a book which has its creation date 10 years ago.
It is not easy
