Joomla! World Conference 2026

Our previous issue, in May, was the first one that was published using only the Joomla core for the publishing workflow. Before that, we used an extension, EasyBlog, to handle the process of approval and scheduling our content. The Joomla Community Magazine is a monthly magazine; each new issue goes live on the 20th of the month.

Of course a monthly publishing workflow for a magazine, with authors, editors and content neatly structured in categories, is something that can just as well be done with Joomla core. But in 2020 the decision was made to use EasyBlog for this, and migrating an existing magazine is a whole different ballgame. How we made our move from EasyBlog to just Joomla? You can read it in this issue.

Plus: get to meet our new President, Elisa Foltyn, read about awesome features nobody has bragged about so far, meet four young developers who are working on improving core functionality, find out why people are going to the Joomla World Conference, and much, much more.

Do you value freedom of choice and being in control of your own website? Join the global Joomla Movement! Digital sovereignty is more important than ever, and a growing number of people is acknowledging that. Joomla is independent, not run by tech bros, and you can help shape the CMS and its future. Why not take the chance to contribute to your favourite CMS?

Get involved, we'd love to meet you! Our community of Joomla volunteers has something to do for everyone.

About the author

Before I got my current job as Coordinator Communications & Digital, I ran my own company for 25 years. The first 15 years I was a writer / editor / journalist / writing coach, but then I created my first website with Joomla... and I was hooked. I switched careers and became a website developer. My current job combines these two skills, so that's a win-win 🙂

Why I contribute to Joomla

To many people Joomla is just a tool. But if you look a little closer, you'll notice it's much more than that. It's a living system, raised and nourished by a community of volunteers dedicating their time to make it the best CMS ever. Without volunteers, Joomla wouldn't exist. It's not 'just a product'. Everyone who uses Joomla, can do so because someone, somewhere, contributed to it. I want to give back to the community that keeps Joomla alive.

And, probably needless to say: I love being part of that community.

Contributing to Joomla by volunteering brought me so much: valuable experience, more knowledge and a better understanding of Joomla and its community, and the opportunity to work together with a crowd of lovely people all over the world.
