Saturday, November 9, 2013 – Geek Day
Come get your Geek on! Saturday the 9th of November is Geek Day at the Joomla! World Conference where we have put together a schedule that will let your inner geek out!
We will be kicking the day off with Peter Martin and his keynote on Raspberry Pi and Joomla, Ethan Marcotte will be presenting a new view on Responsive Web Design, followed up by Kevinjohn Gallagher (in full kilt).
We have assembled more than 30 sessions during the Geek Day with subjects varying from tutorials over code workshops to web services, LESS, abstraction frameworks, google app engine and many other very geeky sessions.
We end the Geek Day with a social event dinner followed up by an open bar and Bugs, Beer and Fun with the Joomla Bug Squad into the night.
Our hope with the Geek Day is to raise the bar a little higher, and to show our community just how many interesting people with a ton of knowledge we have who are contributing to the Joomla! project. Be inspired, learn, talk, make new friendships and hopefully we will also see you contributing in the future.
Sunday, November 10, 2013 – Community Day
Let’s hug and feel good! On Sunday, November 10th we will focus on the community aspects of Joomla!
Sander Potjer, member of the CLT, will present a keynote on the coming Joomla! Volunteer Portal. Right after lunch we have a special guest, Matt Mullenweg, co-founder of WordPress, who will share some insights on the story of WordPress. At the end of the Community Day, and thereby the end of the second Joomla! World Conference, we have David Hurley who plans to “Bring Back the Mullet”!
We have assembled more than 30 sessions during the Community Day with subjects varying from Governance to Internationalization to working groups for the Webservices, UX (User Experience), UCM (Unified Content Model) and more for all the standing working groups.
The Community day is the day to feel the belonging, the sharing and the warmth of our community that consists of all the relations we all share with the project.
