Leadership Highlights June 2014
For an online community and project, meeting the people you work with face-to-face is the best way to give your project and community a huge boost. Coming home from JandBeyond 2014 and feeling energized to move forward is what all leadership team members present at the event felt after the three days of joint meetings and trainings that took place in the days before the event.
Already on Tuesday most of the leadership members gathered at the venue to follow a training session all day moderated by Adrian Ganz. The training included subjects as having effective meetings, communication and motivation delegation. A well spent day where the participating leadership members unanimously felt enriched and said they learned how to lead in a more effective way.
The next day was scheduled for separate meetings of each team, with one whole day to discuss and move forward with subjects on the agenda.
Open Source Matters (OSM)

For Open Source Matters it was a good opportunity to get to know all the new board directors better and get them up to speed with all the tasks and projects they have going on.
One of the most discussed items was governance. OSM wishes to thank the Governance Working group for their detailed report, providing us with a helpful overview.

The Community Leadership Team took advantage of the training session that the entire Leadership participated in the day before. During their meeting they were highly effective, with lots of topics being discussed, and many action items and outcomes are expected from those discussions.
Areas like JUGs, the new JED, the Volunteer Portal, the community showcase site and the main joomla.org site will benefit from their meeting in the coming weeks.
The Production Leadership Team (PLT)

The Production Leadership Team looks back on a productive meeting as well, discussing several software related items. Their more detailed report is expected in the near future.
Investing in our Future
On the last day, the entire leadership gathered for a joint meeting. Asking ourselves ‘What is Joomla! holding back?’ we came up with a list of subjects that contained, among others, our communications, the overall attitude towards Joomla, why Joomla!, and our structure.
Along with these subjects there were presentations about the status of the budget (by Victor Drover), governance models (by Ronni Christiansen) and marketing (by Chiara Aliotta).
Three fruitful days of face time with our leadership that will move the Joomla Project forward in the best sense feels like a good investment for our future.
