In Memory of Helvecio (Elvis) da Silva
Last month, the JCM Team received very sad news: Helvecio (Elvis) da Silva, a passionate Joomler and valuable volunteer, has passed away at the age of 59.
Helvecio was an active member in many teams, always bringing passion, expertise, humour and kindness to every task he took on. He collaborated with volunteers from all around the world, forming bonds that transcended borders and making a difference in countless ways.
His absence leaves a great void, but his legacy will continue to inspire us. We are grateful for the time we shared, the knowledge he imparted, and the warmth and fun he brought to our community.
Helvecio was part of the Joomla Community Magazine team long before most of us were, but in our community there are people who knew and loved him. They all told us he was a very friendly and caring person. This is how Joomlers throughout our community remember him:
A bright light
I met Helvecio (Elvis) in New York, as he came to multiple JoomlaDayNYC and JoomlaCamp NYC Events. He always brought his knowledge and his bright smile to all of us. Most recently in 2017, Helvecio came out to New Jersey to give a session on bootstrap and Joomla.
He was always thinking forward. He provided a steady hand and a kind perspective to Joomla as a technology and more importantly to Joomla the community. It is because of people like him that the community remained strong. Thank you Elvis for your bright light, you will be missed.

A great asset
I was shocked and saddened to learn about the loss of Helvecio da Silva. I first met him at a Joomla Day weekend in NYC. I was surprised to see a person from South America. We have kept in touch through FB over the years. We had planned to work on a project together, but that never went forward. The last time I saw him in person was a few years ago. He was a great asset to the Joomla community. He will be missed.

Full of energy
Helvecio was a very kind and friendly person. I met him in person at several international Joomla events. He was always open, full of energy, and easy to talk to. We also worked together when he was part of the Joomla Community Magazine team. I am very sad to hear that he has passed away. Farewell my Brazilian Joomla friend!
