Roundup from JUG Corner - September 2013

With 163 user groups around the world, there is always something exciting and interesting happening in the Joomla! Community - and I hope to produce a monthly round-up highlighting new Joomla! User Groups, events, and reviews of JUG meetings. If you have anything you would like me to feature from your Joomla User Group please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - you must be writing from a Registered Joomla! User Group (i.e. listed at https://community.joomla.org/user-groups.html).

This month has been a busy month for the JUG Team, as we worked our way through the 25+ applications from people all over the world to join the JUG team.  It was a difficult process, but we are delighted to announce the structure of the JUG team moving forward.

  • Team lead - Liam Mandville
  • CLT liaison - Ruth Cheesley

    Team members:

  • Guillermo Bravo
  • Saurabh Shah
  • Max Lynam
  • Alejandro Pascoli
  • Son Koral

We would like to thank everybody who applied for your interest, and we hope you will join us in welcoming the new team members.

JUG Helpdesk

For some time it has been clear that the communication process between the JUG team and JUG Organisers needs to improve - both to ensure that registrations do not get lost in the various processes, but also so that JUG Organisers can look back over communication with the team.

I have been working closely with Pedro Gonçalves to implement the Maqma helpdesk on the JUG portal, which we have been testing over the past few weeks with some JUG Organisers. We have just started to use the helpdesk with our first few tickets, and we hope it will serve a dual purpose, both for raising and dealing with questions and problems but also as a location for FAQs and common questions. If you have any feedback on this new system, please drop me an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

JUG Registrations

We have not had may new JUG registrations this month, although we have several which are in the process of becoming registered.  This month we welcome:

News from JUGS

September has been a busy month in the Joomla! calendar, with lots of Joomla!Day events happening.  I was delighted to attend and speak at Joomla!Day Switzerland in Berne where I met with the local JUG organisers and heard about how the community in Switzerland is developing.  I have also just returned from Joomla!Day Spain, hosted in Albacete, where I met several JUG organisers and am excited to hear that there are several JUG registrations in the pipeline - watch this space!

If you have any news about your JUG, please do reach out and let me know - just drop me an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with all the info and some photos/links if you have them!
