The first team on my list is for people who like or want to be involved in technique. It is a team within the production working group called the Joomla! Bug Squad (JBS). Their job is to identify and fix bugs in Joomla. The Bug Squad also plays a support role with testing and quality assurance when a new major, or minor version is developed.

You can choose one of five minor teams: Tracker Team, Coding Team, Testing Team, Automated Testing Team, Migration-Upgrade Team to participate. The purpose of the teams is to make it easier for JBS members to focus their efforts and learn the skills required to successfully contribute to the project.

Currently, the JBS team needs people to help to monitor the Issue Tracker and test proposed bug fixes as well as code bug fixes. They also need people to help test proposed new features for upcoming releases.

This job is indeed quite simple and easy. You are only required to spend a few hours a month and be able to recognize a Joomla site when you see it on the Internet. Don't worry if you are not sure how to recognize a website that uses Joomla or not. There are several ways to check it. For example, if there is the word "Joomla" in the source code, or Joomla information in the template details (You can see it by adding templates/template_name/templateDetails.xmlafter the website address), that website uses Joomla. Normally, these methods work well.

The shop sells many kinds of goods; from Joomla Books (with numerous famous books about Joomla by many authors) to Joomla gear (shirts, jackets, caps, laptops, bags, apron, etc.).

If you have e-commerce experience or ideas of what products the international shops should carry, or suggestions of what you would like to see or purchase in a Joomla! Shop, don't hesitate to join this team.

Joining the Joomla Documentation Team

  • Required: knowledge and experience of the installation and configuration of MediaWiki, team-work
  • Contact via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Are you familiar with the official Joomla wiki? I'm sure that each of us has entered this site at least once.

Joomla wiki is a huge resource containing most of the documentation on Joomla including 10,000 content pages with over 1,500 images. The first time I visited this site I thought that its interface was similar to Wikipedia. It's easy to understand because both of them use the MediaWiki software. The wiki also hosts the official help screens visible in the back-end of every Joomla installation.

Currently, to prepare for the publishing of a non-English wiki, the Joomla Documentation Team needs to find volunteers with the required knowledge and experience of the installation and configuration of MediaWiki. This team will set up non-English wikis in parallel with and cross-reference the English documentation wiki. In JDOC team, you will work in a collaborative work environment which has members who don't use English fluently, however they do have the required Joomla knowledge.

Conclusion

If you believe in yourself you can become an editor, programmer, organizer or marketer. You can also keep track of jobs in the Joomla forum so you don't miss any attractive jobs.

After reading this article, I hope that you can find the most effective way to contribute to the Joomla Core Team. If you apply successfully to one of six teams remember to let me know by leaving comments!
