Open Source Matters: August 2010 Report
Open Source Matters is the non-profit organization which was formed to manage the legal, financial, and trademark related matters for the Joomla! project. In this issue's Leadership connections article from Open Source Matters, OSM board member Steve Burge shares some of the work that OSM has been doing during July on behalf of the Joomla! project.
Recruiting New Board Members
OSM is entrusted with providing organizational, legal, and financial support for the Joomla! project. With those serious responsibilities and the recent departure of two long-serving board members, the decision has been made to expand the board once more.
We are looking for your nominations for new OSM board members.
We acknowledge that the greater worldwide Joomla! community can help us a lot in this election process, and make us aware of potential candidates we may overlook.
Joomla in the Hispanic World
Board members Javier Gomez is working hard on connecting Joomla's Hispanic communities together. He is researching and documenting the state of Joomla! in countries such as Guatemala, Ecuador, Venezuela, Argentina, Spain, Mexico and Chile.
He is also doing interviews with distinguished members of the Spanish speaking Joomla! community. The interviews are onn the people.joomla.org site: http://people.joomla.org/groups/viewbulletin/325-Primera+entrevista+a+miembros+de+la+Joomlaesfera+hispanohablante.html?groupid=326
The aim of creating this documents is to have a database that could help:
- All of us to know possible new members that have been working for the Joomla! project in their countries and can join the global project.
- Have some feedback about how can we improve our internationalisation.
- To have a better understanding about the Spanish speaking community.
- The future Capital Chair to find new sponsors in those countries.
