Get R3ADY!

The Joomla! 3.0 release came out on schedule last week, and it really puts Joomla on the CMS map in exciting new ways. We are blazing a new trail, being true to the evolution of technology and the ingenuity of the community that drives our project.

A little buzz happens in the press with every release, but this time it's different. TechCrunch and TheNextWeb both point out the innovation of using Twitter Bootstrap for 3.0's responsive design, making Joomla the first big CMS to deliver responsive design for mobile not only on the frontend, but also the admin interface. Drag and drop in the backend, addition of the PostgreSQL driver to support a wider range of databases, and don't forget that Joomla has always supported multilingualism and languages packs can now be installed directly from the extension manager. Bootstrap and jQuery will make it easier for developers to contribute and keep making Joomla go further and do more. Read more about it...

I cannot mention the 3.0 release here on the magazine, without congratulating our very own Lead Editor Dianne Henning for the inclusion of her beautiful header photographs in the Protostar default template that ships with 3.0. You can get a glimpse on the home page of joomla.org! Thanks, Dianne!

And I would like to sincerely thank Olaf Offick of the Community Leadership Team (CLT) for skillfully helping us migrate the magazine in September to version 2.5. I appreciate his ongoing availability to help us tweak things as we find them.

Here we are in October, which is an exciting month because I will have the opportunity to attend Joomla!Day Denmark on October 26 - 27th to talk about the Joomla Community Magazine – my favorite subject! I am excited to meet the community in Kolding on my first trip to Denmark, and learn about what they are doing and get some good energy and ideas from them.

And speaking of the magazine, something new is happening: some of our international contributors are starting to translate English articles on the magazine into other languages. This month we have Nicola Galgano's article The Update Notification System for Extensions translated into Russian by Vladimir Romanov, and Paul Orwig's interview on JDay Colombia has been translated into Spanish by Guillermo Bravo. In addition, a huge number of articles and leadership blogs on the 3.0 release have been translated into Spanish by Guillermo, Manuel Rubio and others. Spasibo and muchas gracias guys!

If you read an article on the magazine that you think would be of particular interest to your countrymen and women and you want to translate it, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.!
