Welcome to the JUG Round Up!

The JUG Team is thrilled to have added the Rules and FAQs and Terms of Service for Joomla! User Groups into Joomla! Documentation. Eric Lamy has translated them into French and Bruce Valle has translated them into Spanish (THANK YOU ERIC & BRUCE!). The goal of the JUG Team is to have these translated into as many languages as possible to help new Joomla! User Groups that are forming understand the rules and what needs to be done. This will save time in processing and approvals. If you can help translate the two documents, please just go to docs.joomla.org and register and start translating. In March, the JUG Team sent out their first of what will be a monthly newsletter to JUG Organisers. The topic was merely to ask Organisers to come and check their listings on the JUG Directory for accuracy.

We had a number of bounced email addresses and have opened tickets wherever possible to get more listings up to date. Many JUGs updated their listings. Thank you!

February was a slower month in the JUG community around the world. Perhaps we’re all hibernating or just plain busy.

Way back in the past, Ruth Cheesley used to write up a monthly Magazine article on Joomla User Group (JUG) happenings. The JUG Team is bringing that back to tell you about new JUGs that have registered, and tidbits from JUG Organisers around the world.

I really appreciate the Joomla in Action sessions because we have an opportunity to strengthen the community and get stuff done. So being part of the Joomla! User Group (JUG) Team, when I found that I could go to the Joomla! World Conference in Vancouver, I wanted to foster new JUGs and assist in supporting existing groups.

Ah migration. Many look at it as a chore and it may be. Migration is really an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to reassess goals, clean up messes, increase functionality, security, and efficiency. But many have struggles. The Update Working Group has been established to make the process of migration clearer and easier to find. The group hopes to reach those who haven’t yet migrated and need to.

Instead of the normal, common New Year's resolutions so many attempt to attain like shedding some pounds, eating better and curbing work-o-holic tendencies, I've come up with a few Joomla-based resolutions that are EASY to attain.

I was a JoomlaDay virgin. I had not been to a JoomlaDay anywhere in the world. I had not organised a JoomlaDay ever before. Back in February of 2013 when my co-organizer, James Foreman, said he wanted to do a JoomlaDay in our area, I had no idea what was ahead.

JoomlaDay San Francisco will be taking place September 27-29, 2013 at the gorgeous Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.
