Software Freedom Day is an annual event, and a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source (FOSS) software.

"Our goal in this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business -- in short, everywhere! The non-profit organization Software Freedom International coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support, giveaways and a point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world organize the local SFD events to impact their own communities."

Open Source Matters and the Joomla! Project is a supporter of this event.

The Software Freedom Day 2014 Map shows events that are already registered. You can join one of the events on the 20th of September, or if there's none in you area, you can host your own event. The StartGuide will provide you with all the information your need.
