First Joomla User Group Meetup in Bangladesh

Written by Parvez Akther | Thursday, 01 November 2012 20:31 | Published in 2012 November
On 13th October, Joomla User Group Bangladesh arranged a meetup for the first time in Bangladesh. The event was held at the Priyo Tech Office and arranged by some energetic Joomla enthusiasts. Not all of those attendants were Joomla users, and so that was a great way to introduce more people to Joomla through this meetup. It was really mass attendance beyond our imagination and we were tight for space!

The main goal for this meetup was to get know each other and share the Joomla love. Although it was a meetup, we arranged some learning sessions and introductory videos about Joomla.

Various topics were covered by the speakers and organizers:

  • An Introduction to Joomla - Suhreed Sarkar
  • Kickstart your career with Joomla - Parvez Akther
  • Developing a Joomla Extension - Sabuj Kundu
  • Developing a Joomla Template with Bootstrap - Kowshar Ahmed

The event received a lot of positive feedback from attendees and was covered by all popular news media in Bangladesh.

We also received video greetings from Paul Orwig, President of OSM (Open Source Matters), Brian Teeman, Co-founder Joomla, Sarah Watz, President of Joomla! User Association Sweden, Richard Pearce, Founder of BuildAJoomlaWebsite.com, Michael Pignataro from CorePHP, and Andrew Rogers from Stackideas.

This meetup really helped us to know each other and plan for the next very big JoomlaDay Bangladesh event.
