Leadership Highlights April 2014

With so many fantastic events organized in the month of March, chances are that you packed, unpacked and repacked your suitcase and have been traveling to meet your Joomla! friends all over the world.

If you are active in our online community you know how much fun it is to work online with so many Joomla friends spread all over the world. And that makes it even more attractive to visit a JoomlaDay or one of the International events.

Only two months until the international community meets again in Germany at JandBeyond and last weekend the next edition of the Joomla World Conference has been announced to be in Mexico, Cancun in November this year.

We help you travel

We do realize however that traveling isn’t free and for a number of our community members the expenses are just not affordable sometimes. Since you as a contributing community member helped our Project, we would like to help you! The Joomla Event Travel programme has been launched exactly for that purpose. Go and find out how we can help you, or if you’re willing to volunteer and spend some hours helping others to attend our next big event. The JET Programme deadline for the JAB event is in just a few hours: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=last+chance+for+JET&iso=20140401T2355&p1=103&am=5

Promote...

Not only at Joomla events you will find your Joomla friends, but also on other events like on CeBIT where you could find the CMS garden promoting Open Source CMS’s for the second year in a row. We would like to thank all the volunteers who have done a great job over there!

Learn...

It’s good to see that Google Summer of Code email list is buzzing again. The deadline for student applications was on March 21st. Students learning how to work in our project are always a great asset for our project. It helps our project move forward and find new volunteers to help on the coding part.

Do more... Go the extra Mile

And we sure need your help to get Joomla 3.3 released in time. The next month is going to be very busy, looking at the release schedule. If you wonder how you can “Do more…” read all the details about it. You will benefit by getting familiar with all the new features in this new version!

Moving forward on old business

A new JED will be build with the help of Fabrikar who has signed the contract to design the Joomla 3.x software to manage the JED listing.

OSM has approved the request to change the license for the Joomla! Framework. Next steps and what does this change mean has been announced.
