Help Wanted: International Joomla! Shop Team Members

Written by | Thursday, 01 March 2012 00:00 | Published in 2012 March
Imagine this... You are a Joomla community member not living in the USA. You want to show your Joomla love by purchasing and wearing a Joomla t-shirt... Two problems. Shipping and customs. Been there? Done that? Didn't get the t-shirt?

Let's work together to solve this problem.

I am creating an international shop team in order to have Joomla gear available to everyone, around the world, in their language, in their currency, without encountering shipping and customs hassles.

The old shop was a “stock″ shop, meaning we ordered a few hundred t-shirts and then paid to have them sit on a shelf until they sold. The new (softly launched) shop is print on demand (POD). Meaning, when an order is placed, it gets printed and shipped. No stock hanging around, and you get a great product at a good price.

So. Where do you come in?

Ideally, we should have not one, but several POD shops... if you live in Mexico, you can get your Joomla gear locally. Down under? No problem. I'd like to have one or two folks in each region leading their POD shop.

If you would be interested in bringing Joomla gear to your continent or region, or if you know of a POD company in your area, let me know! This is a great way to get involved in Joomla!

Thanks Di for leading our project's online shop initiative, and thanks even more for listening to requests from the community. But thanks most of all for being willing to do whatever you can to respond to those requests and find a solution.

You are connecting with our community, you are giving more people an opportunity to contribute, you are putting smiles on people's faces when their packages are delivered, and you are helping introduce more people to Joomla every time someone asks "What's that on your t-shirt/cap/bookpack/coffee cup?"

    You rock!

Deliver iron-on graphic using the same technology used with coupons. No customers, shipping and handling. Individuals download at there local graphics print shop using the internet entirely.

Hi John, Yes, that is the idea, but you get a better product with printed graphics. I am looking for quality POD shops in the different regions of the world. Please contact me and let me know if you would like to join the team? jshop@opensourcematters.org

I got my shirts delivered to Finland, but sadly the quality is something to cry about. Imagine buying a shirt and when you get it you find it to be "cold wash only". Wonder if they are made for one time use, or hanging on the wall ... ;)

Hi Dianne, have you thought of spreadshirt?

They have worldwide distribution. I'd have loved to get involved as you already know, but I think they could really help you on this.

Hi David, Yes, we are running Spreadshirt in the US now... the Europe shop will be added soon. It is places where Spreadshirt does not cover that I want to look into options. I'll keep you on the reserve list! ;-)
