The month of June was marked by some volunteer changes and code releases:

• Andrea Tarr has joined the Production Leadership Team. 
• The Community Oversight Committee informed the board of Open Source Matters, Inc. that Louis Landry (of the Production Leadership Team) has been added to that group. These are the members: Brad Baker, Chris Davenport, Sam Moffatt, Wendy Robinson and Louis Landry. The Community Oversight Committee is a structure that exists in terms of Article IV of the Statutes of Open Source Matters, Inc., and it's main function is to appoint or remove members of the board.
• Sandra Ordonez has been named as External Communications Leader, which is a high-level volunteer staff position within Open Source Matters, Inc.
• A new audit committee is being formed to improve openness and accountability regarding the project's finances. The current audit committee volunteers are Sam Moffat (representing the Production Leadership Team), Brad Baker (representing the Community Leadership Team) and Altansukh Tumenjargal (representing Open Source Matters, Inc.). It is hoped that another volunteer will be chosen from those in the general community.
• At the June meeting of the Open Source Matters, Inc. board of directors, the following motion passed with unanimous consent: “The Open Source Matters Board of Directors gives its sincere thanks and appreciation to Ole Bang Ottosen, for his role on the Community Oversight Committee, and to Andy Tarr, for her role on the Board of Directors of Open Source Matters, as they leave these roles and move on to other things.”
• Joomla! 1.6.4 was released on June 27. This is a security release that corrects four security issues and fixes an issue relating to version upgrades.
• Joomla! 1.7 Beta 1 was released on on June 28. This is the first release made within the new six-month release cycle that started with the delivery of Joomla 1.6 in January 2011. This beta version of Joomla 1.7 is not suitable for production sites. It should be used for testing only. The goals for this beta release are:

1. To allow advance testing of sites and custom extensions so that site administrators and developers can report any problems before the final release.
2. To raise awareness that the end of the current development cycle is fast approaching.
3. To allow testing of the upgrade from version 1.6.4 to 1.7.0.
