Open Source Matters July 2011 Report

Congratulations on the successful release of Joomla! 1.7! This release splits the platform from the CMS, and ushers in the new release schedule. Thank you PLT and all contributors for making this possible!

OSM extends a warm welcome to Thomas Hampton of Nashville, Tennessee, for stepping up to the role of Assistant Treasurer. Thomas brings accounting experience to the job, and is an avid Joomla user.

Several months in the planning, bringing 21 Joomla leadership members from all around the world to San Jose for the first time in 3 years, the joint summit was a huge success! Read about it here...

The JED has surpassed 8000 extensions! The JED rocks!

The Forum is about to hit 500,000 registered users… that's a LOT of users! Go Joomla! Forum!

Kudos not only on 1.7, but equally if not more importantly, kudos to all teams who worked together to make sure community, development and communications came off without a hitch. This time.

Historic, in my mind. NEVER has Joomla had a smooth release (1.0, 1.5, 1.6). Let's all work together to make sure this type of synchronized, on-time, easy-upgrade, predictable and cohesive effort becomes commonplace in months/years to come!
