In the last couple of months, we have three brand new Joomla! User Groups in Dakar (Senegal), Lanciano (Italy), Zeralda (Algeria). Welcome!
From existing JUGs and what they were doing the last couple of months:
From Brian Ronnow
JUG Sorø We invited Gunjan Patel to come and talk to us about "how to test Joomla". He went through how to install the Patchtester and how to work with it. We performed some easy tests and made a suggestion. In April we had a meetup about the new GDPR, and how we as company and a JUG needs to address it all. Bibbi Bryld discussed all the things we should do, and what was good practice to do. All attendees went home with some knowledge of how to react and what they should do in the future.
From Olivier Buisard
Joomla! User Group NYC On Wednesday, March 28, the Joomla! User Group of New York City met again after a long absence. After the success of the Joomla Camp in early March organized by Laura Gordon for the Joomla! User Groups of the Tri-state area, a 'hands on' format seemed appropriate for our Meetups. As a result, Stewart Newfeld and Olivier Buisard, co-leaders of the group, decided to offer training on the topic of Joomla overrides for this first new meeting. The participants were able to try different ways that changes can be made on a site through template, language and CSS overrides, using Surface Pro tablets of the Microsoft Store in Manhattan. For information on future meetups, please go to http://joomlausersnyc.org.

Joomla! User Group New Jersey For Spring 2018 our Joomla Camp NYC event was put together by the Joomla User Groups of NJ and of NYC. Combined we had about 30 people. Think of JoomlaCamp as multiple usergroup/networking meetings in one. We broke out into groups to learn various topics from Templates, Security, Intro to Joomla, and how to build components. Every hour or so, we 'switched off' to study / work with different groups and different topics. We had high schoolers and experienced Joomla developers in attendance. Special thank you to Microsoft for the beautiful space! For more news about our user groups, visit: JoomlaUsersNJ.com. We will have our next meeting in May to discuss Accessibility, with some Accessibility experts from Rutgers. The meeting will be virtual and in person - we will post the date shortly! The Joomla Users group of NYC will also meet again shortly.
