Remember when we wrote about the EU preparing its Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), a European law about hardware and software? We were really concerned about the way it would affect Joomla and other open source software. Well… there's news.

I became aware of the changes in extension development in Joomla when I started looking at migrating websites from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4. A sticking point for me was that some extensions hadn't been made Joomla 4 compatible. Some took a long time to be updated and some didn’t ever work in Joomla 4. It was a big jump and reading this book I can now see much more of what that was about. 

Using the ModalSelect Form field type in Joomla 5 to simplify finding the right product, from thousands, by filtering in a modal window using category, manufacturer and search when developing an extension.

Last month we asked you to share the links to your favorite articles from the Joomla Community Magazine in 2023. And you did! Elections again… one of the reasons is that you, Harald, stepped down as Operations DC. I understand your decision, being totally in the hot spot of Joomla! leadership is, at times, absolutely no fun. But it is also a very sad moment for the Joomla! project as you, Harald, were the rock in the surf for many people in Joomla!. Hundreds (probably thousands) of volunteers benefited from your support and millions of website owners benefited from your dedication for Joomla.

Sadly this will be the last Joomla User Group interview in this series. But we have one of the most popular JUGs for last! I came across JUG London myself somewhere in 2022 I think, they were doing online meetings and why not join it from abroad? Lot's of other volunteers I know (at least their name) from the Joomla Project also attend the meetings online.

Good bye 2023 ... We have just entered a new year according to the Gregorian calendar. In 2023, the hottest year on record, the world has suffered an ongoing climat crisis, new conflicts have emerged, and wars continue just about everywhere....

Here in the UK, the phrase “helping the police with their enquiries" is synonymous with other phrases, such as “Assisting law enforcement with their investigation” and often ends with having “your collar felt.” 

Luckily, I even get paid to help them, which is not the usual turn of events when dealing with the Law, but in my case, it is because I build websites for several different Police groups in the UK.
