Joomla to attend World Hosting Days USA

Joomla to attend World Hosting Days USA

In the past two years, Joomla's outreach has grown beyond the usual JWC, JAB and JoomlaDay's by working with several hosting conferences. Joomla's first experience at HostingCon Global 2016 gave us great insight into the current perception of the project, fantastic advice from media and hosting experts, and opened the door to new sponsorship for the project. This one event showed us how important our visibility outside the core community could be.

Since HostingCon Global 2016, Joomla has attended HostingCon Europe 2016, HostingCon Global 2017, and participated as part of CMS Garden at WHD Global 2017. Each of these conferences gave us great exposure and made the hosting community take note that Joomla is very serious about its market share and the project itself. Hosting companies are a big part of Joomla - the more a hosting company knows and supports the project can have a huge impact on the overall Joomla user experience. Many ‘CMScentric’ hosts have had great success by offering not only hosting support, but support for CMS’s like Joomla and WordPress. It’s important that we share not only the advancements of the project but how hosting companies can leverage Joomla to their advantage. The fact Joomla is a 100% volunteer project is an often overlooked aspect of the project. A focus on ways hosting companies and their employees can get involved, and volunteer with the Joomla project, to giving back to the community, and how it can help their ROI (Return On Investment) can help both the hosting company and the Joomla community.

Press is another huge boom for the project at events like this. Earlier this year at HostingCon 2017, Joomla issued a press release about Joomla’s 80 Million Downloads Milestone and the future of Joomla that was picked up by over 210 media channels, including Yahoo, MarketWatch, and Seeking Alpha, among many others.

This September 11th and 12th, Joomla will make its debut at World Hosting Days US in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two-day conference features a Who's Who of the Hosting arena with top CEO's and founders in attendance. WorldHostingDays have been around since 2003 and originally focused on the hosting industry. Over the years, WHD has expanded and evolved to include the robust array of technologies that make online communication possible, and now WHD addresses the entire range of internet technology and culture. Joomla's presence at this event will be bigger than ever, with our new President of OSM, Robert Jacobi as a keynote speaker and Joe Joomla and myself manning the Joomla booth.  We look forward to sharing the love of Joomla, educating attendees and hosting companies about the project, developing new relationships and gaining sponsorship for the project.
