Joomla! is making its first appearance at the Davinci Faire and BarCamp in Sarasota, Florida.  The event draws more than 600 people from across the gulf coast gathered at the Manatee Technical College to talk tech and show off their latest creations. 

Inspired by the inventions of Leonardo DaVinci, the annual maker's conference is organized to highlight area innovators, connect technology enthusiasts, and empower young inventors. The 2016 DaVinci’s Faire and BarCamp included such diverse topics as education, coding for the homeless, app development, funding your entrepreneurial projects, reinvigorating our economies via the maker movement, and so much more.

The organizers reached out to me after our successful second annual JoomlaDay Florida and offered a speaking position for the technology tracks and expo space for the project in a hall dedicated to Science and Technology.  The event seems like the perfect place to find a new audience of students and innovators that are ready to enter the marketplace.  I hope to inspire them with the opportunities and experience Joomla has to offer, as well as give them a solution for a web presence for their projects.

It's crucial that the Joomla! project look outside its usual avenues of promotion and recruitment to find a new audience and new volunteers for the project.  For far too many years our project has been faceless outside of our Joomla! community.  Last year our presence at HostingCon Global showed just how important it is to increase our visibility and reach in vertical markets. 

April is turning into a busy month for myself and expo attendance by the Joomla! project, starting with HostinCon Global 2017 in Los Angeles, and several other events in the works and finally ending the month with Davinci Faire and BarCamp in Sarasota, Florida.
