I had the privilege to interview CMSExpo Founder John Coonen this month. We talked about everything from how he started CMSExpo to what the Joomla community really needs and how they are trying to bring them to life.

Your website is finally finished! You have added great content, cool images, the whole nine-yards. Now that your site has been done for a while, you've been doing data analysis for your site and realize people don't seem too interested in downloading your content. Most likely this isn't due to the content on your site, because you have been getting heavy traffic on your blog. Have you ever thought that there could be something wrong with your call to action?

Last December I wrote about the "X Factor and Women in Joomla". This time, I am extending it to women in tech. On March 23, I attended the LibrePlanet 2013: Commit Change conference that was held at Harvard University. A two-day conference, I was only able to attend the first day, and I was on a mission to follow up with Marina Zhurakhinskaya from GNOME's Outreach Program for Women.

It must be that Spring is in the Air! New goals, new plans, new roadmaps, new visions, new events, new leadership members, new processes... And on top of that a brand new developer site!

We had a great turn-out and a high percentage of women (26.6%) at the first JoomlaDay Boston held on March 16 at the Microsoft NERD Center. 

Lately I've been spending almost all of my Joomla! time working on the new tags feature that will be in CMS 3.1. It has been a huge and exciting project, and we'll see it for real on April 15, but in the meantime anyone can test it or even better test and give feedback. So many people have helped already with this, and you can too.

Bis es soweit ist, kann aber jedermann beim Testen helfen oder - noch besser - Feedback geben. Viele Leute haben dies bereits getan - auch Ihr könnt helfen.

Ich hatte neulich das Vergnügen, den CMSExpo Gründer John Coonen zu interviewen. Wir sprachen über viele Dinge, angefangen vom Start der CMSExpo bis zu dem, was die Joomla! Community wirklich braucht und wie dem allem Leben einzuhauchen ist.

Designer und Entwickler denken immer noch vor allem so, wie der durchschnittliche Desktop-User. Aber heute, wo die mobile Revolution angekommen ist, wird Design immer deutlicher zu einem mehrstufigen Prozess. Wie macht man ein Design für jemanden, der mit seinen Fingern auf einem Smartphon herumtippt? Und womit fängt man an, mit dem Design für die mobilen Geräte, oder dem Desktop Design? Es stellt sich heraus, dass die progressive Erweiterung - das heisst anfangen mit der mobilen Version - später zu einer besseren, benutzerfreundlichen Webseite führen kann.

When I first discovered a CMS, years ago, I saw a tool that would help me broaden my menu of services as a designer. After all these years, I feel as if I have gone through a life changing experience and I thank a thriving community of people from different parts of the world who work together, in diferent areas, to keep Joomla alive.
