BDD (Behavior Driven development) in its grandest sense is about communication and viewing your software as a system with functionality and features. Using the BDD approach to write test cases makes test cases easy. BDD tests are easily understandable by non developers and testers.

How to improve the menu item workflow to make it easier for Joomla! users? This is one of the Google Summer of Code 2016 projects in course now and this article shows its progress.

I am back with the next article of GSoC 2016 project. Previously I wrote about the central idea Shareable Draft Content, so much to be coded but not so much time to finish it! The previous article explained the scope of the project, the steps of implementation and the advantages of this enhancement feature. In my second article the progress so far on this project, all the yay-nay moments over the past weeks of the coding is shared!

The Google Summer of Code project on writing tests for the custom JavaScript libraries in Joomla! is close to completion. We are about to get them merged into Joomla! CMS soon. This article is about why those tests need to be merged as soon as possible.

On December 1st, 2012 a call was made by Sarah Watz for volunteers to help the Certification Program come alive. Since then several articles published and some demo sessions conducted at Joomla! events to make it happen. Over the time the certification team structure changed with new members on board and working actively for the past two years to make this happen. We are excited to announce the Joomla! Certification will be available from September 1st 2016.

Joomla made its first appearance at HostingCon Global 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Billed as "The Premier Industry Conference for the Worldwide Hosting and Community", the conference/expo seemed like the perfect venue to showcase Joomla! We were asked to present a 2-hour workshop and given an expo booth to share Joomla with the community.

Imagine if the Super User could record the actions of users: who did what, where and when. This is the extension that I am developing in my Joomla! Google Summer of Code Project.

For one more year, Joomla! Brasil community was in the 17º Fórum Internacional Software Livre (FISL17) - Free Software International Forum - promoted in the city of Porto Alegre, south of Brazil, from July 13th to 16th.

The spirit of Joomla is community and our community is alive and well. Our community is strong and passionate, filled with vibrant and talented people around the world who collaborate and help each other every day. We use Joomla to build websites that help businesses, governments and organizations. Our work is meaningful and we make the world a better place. At the same time, we can be our own worst enemy. Our own words and actions create a perception that impacts the growth of our platform in many ways. In order to build our community and improve our platform, we need to change the conversation about Joomla and it starts with us.

The Joomla! World Conference is back again for it’s fifth year, and this time it’s in Vancouver, British Columbia. This year's event will be taking place during November 11-13 at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Vancouver. 

Six students, six projects, a lot of codes. Google Summer of Code 2016 has crossed its midterm line. Our students running Joomla! projects are working hard with the support of their mentors and admins*. Will they finish in time? Will their projects bring good results for the Joomla! Project and for the Joomla! users?

In July the birthday of the Joomla Community Magazine is celebrated. In 2016 JCM is turning 6! People from all the corners is invited to celebrate this date. Care to join us?

While Content Management Systems (CMS) reduce the burdens associated with building a website, particularly an e-Commerce one, choosing the right system is a pretty hard decision by itself. The three biggest CMSs every eCommerce entrepreneur has to consider are a pretty popular in the CMS world and eCommerce entrepreneurs usually end up choosing one of them for their website. Joomla takes the cake because of its extensive functionality, ease of use, extendability and its ability to deliver a wholesome online business experience.

My first car was a Geo Metro and to save a couple bucks I would change the oil on it myself. It's not hard to do, however I didn't have any real tools beyond a crescent wrench and a robo-wrench. I would try not to strip the plug in the 6 inches of space under the car using the crescent and then catch the oil in milk jugs that I sliced the tops off of. Then, I would attempt to unscrew the filter with the robo wrench. This had a 50-50 chance of mangling it and spilling oil as I torqued it. These tools made the job a 45 minute trial where I would bloody my knuckles, get covered in oil, and end up cleaning puddles of it off the street. Eventually, I wised up and bought a ratchet set, an oil wrench, and a pan to catch the plug and all that oil.  The difference was magical: it became a 15 minute job without swearing, blood loss, or environmental catastrophes. And it was all because I used the right tools.
