In six issues, we at Team EaSE hope we've introduced to you some of the enormous potential of Joomla! and its extensions — the power, flexibility and creativity that the world's best CMS can unleash. Over that time, we've tried to dissolve the jargon into meaningful terms, simplify difficult technical topics and give you a sense of the fun we have using Joomla! to build websites and web applications.

Here is an easy and fun way for you to share your feelings about Joomla! with the rest of the community: Simply write a haiku about Joomla! below in the comments area of this month's page. Be sure to check back here to read the haikus submitted by other members of the community. We will have a page for new haiku in every upcoming JCM issue.

2010 has been a great year for Joomla!. As our project celebrated its fifth birthday, we also surpassed 22 million Joomla! downloads worldwide and 138 million extension downloads from the Joomla! Extensions Directory. Here is a summary list of some significant accomplishments of the Joomla! project that took place in 2010:

During Joomla! Day West 2010 and the Community Leadership Team and Production Leadership Team Summit, Kyle Ledbetter and Jeremy Wilken were asked to produce a series of video interviews with Joomla! Leadership that was in attendance.  Additionally, some interviews were done with other members of the community that were there.  In the first two of these released, Peter Martin, Wendy Robinson, Chris Davenport and Mark Dexter share their thoughts on the project, community and why they love Joomla!

In this second installment we meet Ryan Ozimek, Andrew Eddie and the guys (Kevin Rice and Jesse Dundon) of Hathway. They all take a few minutes with us to share their thoughts on the project, community, the impact Joomla has had on them and why they love it!

According to Wikipedia, “Joomla!” is the Romanized spelling of the Swahili word jumla meaning “all together” or “as a whole”. The very definition of Joomla! invokes a sense of community; and what a diverse and talented community we are! We span the globe, our skill sets range from development to design, from coding to communication. We are multilingual, multinational and multicultural. And, we are volunteers.

Candy for the eyes... occasionally I come across a website that inspires me. The connection between the users and the identity of the website can be astonishing.

Open Source Matters is the non-profit organization which was formed to manage the legal, financial, and trademark related matters for the Joomla! project. In this issue's Leadership connections article from Open Source Matters, OSM board member Steve Burge shares some of the work that OSM has been doing during October on behalf of the Joomla! project.

In continuation of the first “CB Delimiter Field Magic” article, as promised I will be presenting some simple CB Delimiter field logic that will give your users the ability to show/embed their YouTube playlist in their user profile. The example given is based on YouTube, but the logic can be easily adapted to support any embedded content hosted on most providers (Vimeo, Google Video, etc.).
