Google Summer of Code is a global program focused on bringing more student developers into open source software development. Students work with an open source organization on a 3 month programming project during their break from school. This year, the Joomla Project is once again present and JCM talked to Puneet Kala, who is leading the group through this exciting moment.

The international Joomla Community Magazine is a major repository of knowledge about Joomla. It holds valuable content, generally in english. Every now and then, some contributors take the time to translate these articles into their native languages. In this article I present some tips and tricks for translators to help them improve their contribution.

The Joomla Community Magazine (JCM) is starting to undergo some changes. Since its re-launch in 2010, JCM has been helping to tell the story of how far the Joomla Community has come.

Landing Pages, essentially are any page a visitor enters a site. In Digital Marketing the term is used to describe a page with specific features, apart from the rest of the site. Its goal is to attract the visitor’s attention to engage in a desired action

In 2012 I had the opportunity to attend the very first Joomla World Conference in San Jose, California. I hardly knew anyone in the International Community at the time. I was thrilled, anxious and eager to absorb as much information as I could. At one point, I entered a room where two ladies were sitting at a table. Their presentation was named "Everything You Wanted To Know About the JCM". Dianne Henning and Alice Grevet gave us a great lesson on what being a volunteer in an Open Source project like Joomla and the Community Magazine can be. By the time they finished I was absolutely inspired! I walked towards them and offered to create illustrations for the magazine, or even write articles, something I love to do. At that moment, my life changed forever. And I hardly knew what lay ahead of me...

I believe that one of the most asked questions for us designers (including myself) is: what can I do to win new customers? Developing your Personal Brand is a way to open yourself to possibilities of generating new contacts and business opportunities.

The JCM interviewed Sarah Watz, the current president of Open Source Matters about Joomla's 10th Birthday, and what it means to the Joomla Community. Let the celebration begin!

Back when Joomla was released I started to benefit from its features. My career took a new turn and I can say that my life changed because of Joomla. For sometime I thought I was in Love with Joomla. Only recently have I understood what that feeling really is.
