Last December I wrote about the "X Factor and Women in Joomla". This time, I am extending it to women in tech. On March 23, I attended the LibrePlanet 2013: Commit Change conference that was held at Harvard University. A two-day conference, I was only able to attend the first day, and I was on a mission to follow up with Marina Zhurakhinskaya from GNOME's Outreach Program for Women.

We had a great turn-out and a high percentage of women (26.6%) at the first JoomlaDay Boston held on March 16 at the Microsoft NERD Center. 

It all started on a hot, summer day in August, an innocent lunch, a good idea, and off we went, diving headfirst into planning the first ever JoomlaDay Boston! You may see this as a bit of shameless plugging, and you are right, please join us! But with it, I hope to pass along a few good tips on event organizing.

Here is an easy and fun way for you to share your feelings about Joomla! with the rest of the community: Simply write a haiku about Joomla! below in the comments area of this month's page. Conference attendance statistics showed that we had 23% women at the first Joomla World Conference. We need to raise that number, not only for the next JWC, but for all of our events!
