When our team kicked off organizing an international Joomla conference in May 2020, we had no idea that a global pandemic would ruin all our plans. However, as a community born in the online world, nothing seemed more obvious than turning our beloved family meeting into an online event, bringing people from around the globe together in these crazy times.
After JandBeyond, the international Joomla conference, took a break in 2019, finally having a JAB on the horizon again in 2020 was an extremely enjoyable thought.
The first JoomlaCamp Chicago was held on September 22, at DePaul University's Loop Campus. With a wide range of questions and answers covered, participants left feeling excited to put their expanded Joomla! knowledge to use on their own sites.
The Joomla Capital team kicked off its winter USA conference schedule with two back to back conference/expo appearances in both Orlando, Florida and Houston, Texas. The Captial team started attending US conferences just three years ago at Hostingcon 2016 and have been using these events to showcase the platform and gain sponsorship for the project.
After a few years of absence, Joomla Day Brazil has returned in 2018. The event took place in the city of Guarulhos and was organized by JUG São Paulo and offered a diversity in the program that reflected how diverse the Joomla community is.
The Joomla community was represented by six people at the 18th edition of FISL - International Forum of Free Software that took place from July 11th to 14th in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
The second annual CMS Summit Orlando is again set to bring together web designers and developers from the biggest and brightest Open Source communities. Speakers and attendees from WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and Frontend Design experts, will share their insight into web design, security, digital marketing and the top Content Management Systems.
There is one thing for sure; you can't attend a Joomla! Event and leave without learning new things. One thing that has keeps Joomla growing is the community. At Joomla events like the JAB, everyone sees him/herself as family and hence, the Joomla Love is shared. You feel this strong sense of belonging which makes you feel at home and because you are now carried along, the event becomes fun! COLOGNE was exceptionally AWESOME!
After three years, Brazil will again organize its Joomla Day in August, which will take place in the city of Guarulhos, the main financial, corporate and commercial center of South America. JCM interviews Kazuo Gomi Filho, one of the organizers, about the event.
