Community Magazine

Hello, Community! You must be aware the Joomla Community Magazine is going through changes. For starters, this is the first issue published after the upgrade to version 3.6.x. And there is a lot more to come! For starters, we want to hear the voice of the Community to guide us in our next steps.

In the Joomla community, we make progress when we work together. At times we differ (and even strongly so) about the best path to take, but we share a goal of improving the Joomla CMS, for all level of users, from all cultures and nations.

The Joomla Community Magazine (JCM) is starting to undergo some changes. Since its re-launch in 2010, JCM has been helping to tell the story of how far the Joomla Community has come.

In many cultures, Autumn and Spring are times of festivals celebrating harvest and thanksgiving, or life, renewal and rebirth.

As we celebrate (along with many in the Joomla community) the start of 2016, we look at some of the highlights of 2015

2016 is only a month old, and there’s already a buzz of activity in Joomla-land.

In 2012 I had the opportunity to attend the very first Joomla World Conference in San Jose, California. I hardly knew anyone in the International Community at the time. I was thrilled, anxious and eager to absorb as much information as I could. At one point, I entered a room where two ladies were sitting at a table. Their presentation was named "Everything You Wanted To Know About the JCM". Dianne Henning and Alice Grevet gave us a great lesson on what being a volunteer in an Open Source project like Joomla and the Community Magazine can be. By the time they finished I was absolutely inspired! I walked towards them and offered to create illustrations for the magazine, or even write articles, something I love to do. At that moment, my life changed forever. And I hardly knew what lay ahead of me...

On November 6th, Joomlers from all over the world will be gathering in Bangalore, India, for the fourth annual Joomla World Conference. Collaborate. Learn. Network. Share.

A fitting milestone for the Joomla project as it turns 10 is the process of implementing its new structure for governance. All of the effort that has gone into proposing and defining that process aims to take Joomla into the next decade and beyond by enabling great coding to continue, teams to be run more efficiently and have more impact, and the fundamental project value of community volunteerism to be upheld.
