Celebrating the amazing women of Joomla with Nadja Lamisch
At the moment of writing, it's Joomla’s birthday, a celebration day for all Joomla volunteers and especially for the women contributors who continuously leave their mark on our favourite CMS. With this in mind I would like to present the Treasurer of Open-Source Matters Inc.
Please allow me to introduce:
Nadja Lamisch
Could you please introduce yourself?
Hi, I am Nadja from Germany. I've been in web development since 2001. I live with my family near Munich.
Can you tell us about your role as a Joomla volunteer-what is it that you do?
There are two different things I am doing for Joomla. Since 2019, I have been part of the organizing team for the German-speaking Joomladay (formerly Joomladay Germany, now Joomladay DACH).
Additionally, for the past two years, I’ve served as the treasurer of OSM.
What does Joomla mean to you?
Family. Meeting Joomla users feels like meeting family. Through the community, I’ve found business partners and made new friends.
What makes you particularly happy volunteering for Joomla?
I love volunteering in the event organisation because it is great to see the happy participants.
Volunteering on the board provides a deeper look into the organization.
If you could change something about your whole Joomla volunteering experience what would that be?
We should "do" more and not just talk.
Do you think being a woman in the Joomla community makes a difference and how?
I think that we have a pretty good quota of women, at least in the German-speaking community. Having both women and men in a community enriches everyone’s experience—we learn from each other.
Would you encourage women to volunteer for Joomla? Why (yes or no)?
Yes! But I wouldn't limit it to women only. Everyone should get involved. It’s fun, enlightening, and a chance to meet fantastic people.
Thank you Nadja Lamisch, for being an inspiration to everyone out there with a passion for Joomla, and web development. I would like to wish Joomla again a Happy Birthday! May Joomla continue to be the favorite CMS it has been so far and even more. Thank you to all the volunteers of Joomla, and especially the amazing women of Joomla, and finally thank you to all women of technology through the years for your contributions.
Stay tuned for a series of interviews with the amazing women of Joomla to meet the wonderful ladies behind the award winning CMS!
Happy Birthday to Joomla and happy birthday to all Joomla volunteers!
