JoomlaDay Italy 2012

JoomlaDay Italy 2012

The fifth JoomlaDay Italy took place on September 29th in Turin.

Organized by AlexRed, Ste and Gegè, the admins of joomla.it, and hosted at the Palaolimpico, a multipurpose indoor sports/concert arena, the conference was followed by more than 1000 people, from all over Italy, throughout the day.

At 12:30 there was the lunch break, and thanks to sponsorships we distributed for free 1000 sandwiches and 1000 bottles of water. Many followed the live streaming feed of the conference, with peaks of 150 concurrent users and a total of 1000 unique hits over the whole day. The main topic was the new version 3.0 of Joomla!

This conference was free to attend, but we collected about €1,100 through the participant's offers, and that allowed us to make donation of $1,400 to the Joomla project.

In the large exhibition area there were many stands of professionals. Joomla extension developers, template designers and hosting companies met with visitors who are actually clients.

There was also a desk for all the Italian User Groups, from Veneto, Lombardy, Campania, Lazio, Calabria and Sicily regions, and the large exhibition area provided an opportunity for participants to meet, give rise to collaborations and exchange of ideas.

Mitch Pirtle (Joomla co-founder) was the special guest:
