The 15th edition of the Dutch JoomlaDays!

May-JDNL-2023

After a few years of no Dutch JoomlaDays, it was finally time again!
On Friday 12 and Saturday 13 May 2023, the Joomla Netherlands Foundation organized the JoomlaDagen for the 15th time. The ROC in Tilburg (a school focused on IT education) was our host for this edition. We have been given three rooms to organize the sessions in, in addition to the general room where the canteen was also located.

It was exciting for the new JoomlaDagen team to organize. Do our visitors still want to visit an event and how many people can we expect? The team agreed that between 80 and 100 the result would be very nice, but in the end 130 people were present over both days!

On Friday we started with an opening word from the new chairman of the Joomla Netherlands Foundation, Rick Spaan. Following this, Brian Teeman gave a keynote on Accessibility (A11y).

There was some confusion among the students who received this session… there is a Pizza Bugs en Fun (PBF)… and now we have to order our own pizza from Domino's without a mouse??... This is because only then will it become clear that the site of , in this case Domino's, is very difficult to access and what problems this causes for people with a disability.

For those who joined the Pizza Bugs and Fun it was a look behind the scenes. How is everything tested and how are improvements made in Joomla!

It took a while before everyone had the right programs in front of them, but good steps were taken with the help of Rick Spaan and developer Roland Dalmulder, so that 2 pull requests were implemented.

As an assignment, feedback was requested from the students by letting them indicate their experiences. The day ended with of course with a pizza!

The other participants of the day later got their pizza in the canteen. A nice drink was also held here.

Saturday the school was completely available for us, there were no more students present only our visitors. The presentations were all well attended and the speakers were all thanked at the end with a 'limited' edition JoomlaDagen mug.

At the end, the team still managed to add a final presentation to the program, followed by a word of thanks from Rick Spaan to all sponsors and team members, with a special word of thanks to Sander Potjer, who has organized the JoomlaDagen with his team for so many years. Thanks again for this Sander!

The entire team can look back on a successful event. The teachers of the school were also very happy about it, so will there be a next edition there? That chance is very high!

Did you miss this edition? Be sure to keep an eye on our website www.joomladagen.nl. In any case, it was a good atmosphere and a very good reunion between all our guest speakers and visitors.

So see you next year!

On behalf of the JoomlaDagen team,

Edith van Leeuwen
