Core Translation Team - 2019 Report

ct_20200308-174853_1

The Joomla Core Translation Team continuously strives to provide an up-to-date translation of core Joomla into various languages.

This is a significant effort as it requires around 11,000 phrases to be translated.

Joomla! websites can now be published in 76 languages, including Kazakh and Lithuanian that were introduced in the year 2019, spoken around the world. These language packs come handy when developing both monolingual and multilingual sites using Joomla!

The translations team has started the work on creating the Albanian, Icelandic and Uzbek language packs.

In the year 2019, the translations group has released language packs, in a consistent way, for Joomla! 3.9.2 to Joomla! 3.9.14. The current list of language packs for Joomla! 3 is available at http://community.joomla.org/translations/joomla-3-translations.html.

The accredited language packs repository is currently present at joomlacode.org, an outdated server. The translations group along with the Production Team understands the need for replacing this repository with a new one. Most likely this would become a reality with Joomla! 4.

By the way, the translations team is happy to announce the availability of the project joomla-cms in Crowdin (https://crowdin.com/project/joomla-cms), an online translation tool. This would help in translating the language strings for both Joomla! 3.9 and Joomla! 4.0.

The team is always looking for volunteers. Please join us to create more language packs and spread the joy of creating Joomla! websites in various languages.
