Get inspired! 18 Joomlers share 18 Joomla 4 sites

2023---JCM-August-18-J4-Sites

It’s that time of the year again: we’re celebrating Joomla’s birthday. August 17, Joomla turned 18. For this special birthday edition article, we’ve asked Joomlers from all over the world to share with us one Joomla 4 website they’re particularly proud of. The result? See for yourself: a wonderful variety from blog to business, from shop to business directory and from government to community. All built with love… and Joomla!

Chris Wilcox about https://www.primemktginc.com

Screenshot 1 primemktginc.com

As our first US-based client, this project was a great opportunity to showcase our focus on collaboration, with content and page structure strategy provided by the client, who allowed us to work our magic on both their logo and website design.

Screenshot 2 primemktginc.com

The result is a 100% custom designed website that goes a huge way to increasing the authority of the client’s business, through ideal-client-focused visuals and content - a major leap over their original in-house website.

Built on Joomla 4 and crafted with Helix Ultimate 2/JoomShaper PageBuilder Pro.

Dan Atrill about https://simplyrhino.co.uk

Screenshot 1 simplyrhino.co.uk

This website was rebuilt from scratch from a previous version. We replaced legacy extensions meaning that we didn’t carry over older code. It also meant migrating content to using native articles in Joomla.

Screenshot 2 simplyrhino.co.uk

This process served us well when upgrading to Joomla 4 as there were minimal adjustments required, even with the custom component built to manage a busy training and events schedule.

Laura Gordon about https://sfplnj.org

Screenshot 1 sfplnj.org

This was the first website that I built in Joomla back in 2007. Back then the site was created on Joomla 1.0 using JEvents, core content and a document manager. Over the years we continued upgrading the site, the template and the functionality. This year we upgraded the site and the template to Joomla 4. We have worked with various Library Directors over the years and for each upgrade we paid attention to what they wanted for their library patrons.

Screenshot 2 sfplnj.org

The purpose of a Public Library website is to display content that is easy for the library patron to get through. Joomla is beautiful using just the core, but an advantage of Joomla is also combining it with powerful tools that are built by reliable extension developers. The digital content page shows a use of Advanced Custom fields (Tassos), Latest News Enhanced (SimplifyYourWeb) and core content to display multiple links for the patrons to easily find the information they are looking for. Not only is the content easy to find but the technical specialists at the library can edit the entries easily on the front end.

Florian Bauer about https://www.oneworldfilmclubs.at/

Screenshot 1 oneworldfilmclubs.at

Oneworld Filmclubs is a school project that helps students to address a wide range of topics through documentaries and lots of supplementary material. The site was launched in 2011 (on Joomla 1.6) and has developed extremely since then and has now grown to several hundred articles and registered users.

For the relaunch in 2022, we decided to use the YOOtheme framework and to make editing the content as easy as possible for the editors with the help of custom fields and YOOtheme content templates.

Screenshot 2 oneworldfilmclubs.at

All the information needed for the presentation of the individual films (description, images, bonus material, links, ...) is entered via fields and the editors find their way around very well and it is fun to work with the system.

Joomla has once again proven to be the perfect system for these requirements!

Abdul Waheed about https://b2c.com.pk/

Screenshot 1 b2c.com.pk

I am the developer and designer of this website. I made it responsive, and developed it in Joomla 4.
It is a business to consumer directory, the module and component are developed by me. The main functions of the site include listing business, listing companies, and their products, complex search functions and custom routing.

Screenshot 2 b2c.com.pk

I decided not to rely on third party extensions for the blog, but to use core Joomla and create a professional blog layout in the template I developed.

Allan Dowdeswell about https://amitytrust.ca/Screenshot 1 amitytrust.ca

Amity had a new name, logo and graphic program. I designed the site by carefully adhering to the new identity and working within the constraints provided by the page builder component and other Joomla extensions. The result is an attractive, quick loading site which is editable by the client without coding knowledge. This is helped by the excellent components RSForm! Pro, Phoca Download, SP Page Builder Pro, Akeeba Backup, AdminTools, and the XT Adaptive Images plugin.

Screenshot 2 amitytrust.ca

The client has been using it successfully for over a year now, benefiting fully from the power, stability and versatility that Joomla provides.

Louise Hawkins about https://www.oysterseo.co.uk/

Screenshot 1 oysterseo.co.uk

Welcome to my dedicated website for my emerging business venture. I take great pride in this site as it encapsulates my vision without needing a page builder. A Cassiopeia child template and some custom CSS define the website aesthetics, except for the Elfsight widget.

Just a few years ago, I ventured into the Joomla universe devoid of any significant coding or CSS knowledge. My initial Joomla project involved using a framework and page builder. However, the provider withdrew from the Joomla marketplace, an event that subsequently instigated a self-directed learning trajectory. Since that pivot point, I have been on a self-learning journey, attempting to master CSS, and now, I exclusively work with Joomla's core features and Cassiopeia template.

Screenshot 2 oysterseo.co.uk

I've merely skimmed the surface of what Joomla can offer, and I am thrilled at the prospect of unlocking more of its potential as I refine and enhance the site.

Crystal Dionysopoulos about https://solhealth.org

Screenshot 1 solhealth.org

The SolHealth website was an interesting project to work on, because it had many interconnected pieces. They have projects, which each have a board, sponsors, and success stories - not to mention each project has its own content, like objectives.

Screenshot 2 solhealth.org

I made it easy for them to only touch each piece of content once and have it “magically” update throughout the site with custom fields and judicious alternative layouts and template overrides.

The design was also a lot of fun to build out in CSS using svg icons, lots of masks, and color filters to make everything look consistent regardless of how the client chooses to update content. They love it, I love it, everyone goes home happy because Joomla 4 made it easy to build a beautiful, easy to update site.

Eoin Oliver about https://www.aromabathjpd.com/

Screenshot 1 aromabathjpd.com

We built this website from scratch using the YOOtheme Pro builder after being passed a design by another design agency. There was a heck of a lot of image resizing and editing in this build so it was a long and arduous process.

Screenshot 2 aromabathjpd.com

The site came out great and we’re very proud of the functionality. By putting the contact form in a hidden popup we were able to keep the sleek design aimed at the luxury market but still avoid people having to change pages in order to contact the client.

Elmir Mustafic about https://www.elmweb.it/

Screenshot 1 elmweb.it

98% of the sites I've made have been made with Joomla. For this reason my site could only be done in Joomla. In this case it is a restyling of my existing site with Joomla 3. The goal was to create a site with a clean and clear style.

The template is completely custom based on Helix Ultimate, for the layout I used SP Page builder Pro and Convert forms pro for the contact form.

Screenshot 2 elmweb.it

I tried to make the site as accessible as possible to all people, also thanks to the Joomla Accessibility plugin. For the projects section I created blog category view overrides.

Marc Dechèvre about https://www.festivalmusiq3.be/fr/

Screenshot 1 festivalmusiq3.be

Musiq3 is the classical music radio in Belgium. Every year they have a famous festival in Brussels.

Screenshot 2 festivalmusiq3.be

This website makes use of the Joomla features that I love the most:

    • Custom Fields of course since each concert has a Date+Time, a Venue, a Price, a Ticketing link, different Editor Fields (Presentation, Distribution, Partners), different Multimedia Fields (Gallery, Audio, Video, …)
    • Web Services (commonly called API) : the festival has 40 concerts having more than 10 Custom Fields each. So to make the organizers’ life easier to feed the website, all they have to do is to fill in a Google Sheet. Then Joomla synchronizes the content automatically. For more information about how to do this, see the series published earlier in the Joomla Community Magazine… or see the latest version on https://slides.woluweb.be/api/api.html

Randon Chisnell about https://krusteazkurious.com/

Screenshot 1 krusteazkurious.comWhat was fun about this site build is that it’s a “microsite.” It could be built to focus on just one task, which was to get potential customers to take the quiz. However, even though it appears there are only a couple of pages, there are actually 18 different quiz results pages.

Screenshot 2 krusteazkurious.com

The design, UX, and UI is fun and approachable, but behind the scenes lives a form with many conditional fields and branching logic used to create an immersive and unique feeling experience. The entire site is Joomla core with only a theme and a form extension added (YOOtheme Pro and RSForm! Pro).

Richard Gosler about https://feelgoodfuel.co

Screenshot 1 feelgoodfuel.coI was given free rein on the design so not only did I design and build the site (J4, Helix framework plus eshop) but I also shot all the photography for the site (food, kitchen prep etc).

Screenshot 2 feelgoodfuel.co

I also designed the logo.

Robert Kronshorst about https://kids-at-home.net

Screenshot 1 kids-at-home.net

In search of a daycare in my town, I came across this organization. First impression of the website was ok, yet the layout appeared a bit outdated. From the eyes of a fresh parent myself, I missed valuable information.

After a talk, the organization representatives and myself agreed in redesigning the website and helping in achieving a more user friendly look. Submenus, a FAQ along a search function, the visitors can now quickly find the needed information.

The biggest improvement is the search function for childminders. A map now offers the possibility to see the number of addresses in the area. Upon zooming in on the map, one can choose from a list of names.

Screenshot 2 kids-at-home.net

There was also attention paid to the backend. “Of course” the webmaster only has permissions for what she needs for maintaining the website. At the homepage of the backend there is a module to be found with information about the image sizes. Besides that, there is also a module with quick links to articles and other parts of the site.

Robin Clapp about https://willshain.com

Screenshot 1 willshain.com

This website has a straightforward, simple, clean design. The template is custom-made in core Joomla. It is fully accessible and optimized for search engines. Attention was given to the site visitor's experience, making it easy for them to understand and navigate the site and perform the actions they want.

Screenshot 2 willshain.com

As a small business owner, your website must represent you professionally. It is also just as crucial that your website serves you and your business as a resource to your clients and a successful marketing tool to gain future clients. This website checks all the boxes.

Sigrid Gramlinger about https://www.baerenland.at

Screenshot 1 baerenland.at

It was fun to use these products for a website - right now it is just in catalog mode, but can be turned on into a full online-shop later at any time.

Screenshot 2 baerenland.at

We built it with YOOtheme and Phoca Cart and tried to keep it as simple as possible. The nice and fresh design was easily implemented and is flexible also for future requirements.

Serge Billon about https://www.ghm-eclatec.com/

Screenschot 1 ghm-eclatec.com

Ghm and Eclatec are two long-standing and loyal Joomla customers. They put their trust in me for their common international site. The challenge was a complicated one, since I had to respect both the design requirements of the creative team and the technical needs of the sales team.

We worked on the basis of Adobe mockups and had to do all the modeling.

The aim was both to be able to insert mass content at the outset (400 products + 66 sales representatives + 77 references) and to have an interface that was easy for designers to learn. The references are accessible via a map and then by application, and are linked to their respective products and sales representatives.

Screenshot 2 ghm-eclatec.com

We used Flexicontent, Page Builder CK, Template Creator and Minitek Wall, tools from Regular Labs, a little development and, above all, inventiveness to match the site to the constantly evolving project.

Daniel Molinier about https://www.canevet.bio/

Screenshot 1 canevet.bio

I like the association of the design and the animations. I worked with a designer for the layout and added the appearing animations for the text, images and videos.

Screenshot 2 canevet.bio

The template was built from scratch as I like to do it for most clients.

We're not done yet, show me yours!

Do you have a Joomla 4 site you want to share with the world? I’m putting together a second article with Joomlers sharing the sites they’re proud of. This is the chance to show what you can do with Joomla! Find me at Mattermost (Anja de Crom) or email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. Let’s submit at least 100 sites to the Showcase directory

In case you didn’t know: Joomla has a Showcase directory that shows Joomla websites. It’s here: https://showcase.joomla.org/. At the moment of writing, it has only 55 Joomla 4 sites in it. Wouldn’t it be great if it had at least a hundred more next month?

There are two ways you can help make that happen. First is - you guessed it - by submitting your own site(s). The second way is just as important. If everyone starts submitting their sites, the Showcase team has a lot of entries to review. It would make Sébastien Lapoux, the team leader of this team, really happy if you could help out with that. Email him if you’re interested in helping: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Some stunning websites here

Great article Anja, there are some stunning websites here. They really show that there's a lot of quality out there in the Joomla world. Well done to all who participated. You could easily do a website like this every quarter.

Congratulations and recommendation.

Best regards and congratulations for the article.

However, I have to clarify one issue and it is the submission of the sites to the Showcase area, because I remember submitting mine and it was rejected supposedly because it contained too many Google Adsense blocks and it is quite interesting to know that many sites that are submitted to the Showcase They contain Google Adsense advertising guidelines and yet my site was disapproved for that reason.

So I can't understand where is the fairness and pride of wanting to show sites built with Joomla 4 and when they are sent they are rejected, so for that grace, specify that the sites sent to the Showcase must have some conditions and do not make that false statement that every site built with Joomla 4 and submitted to the Showcase will be published because clearly it is not.

And that my website in its footer apart from saying that it is built with Joomla (which many Showcase sites do not even publish) is also indexed in Google international news and in Microsoft Bing International news and even so it is not a candidate to do part of the showcase...
