A Lucky 13th Birthday to Joomla!
The 17th of August 2018 marks the 13th year since Andrew Eddie, on behalf of the then Mambo Development Team, announced the birth of Joomla in a letter to the community.
Reflecting on our founding beliefs
Today it is good to again reflect on these foundational beliefs that were expressed in the Letter to the Community:
- An open source project is about people producing free and open software and contributing to something as a team for the benefit of others.
- Open source projects reflect the spirit of collaboration and fun while garnering community feedback and providing good governance that allows for business to confidently invest in its development.
- Open source projects are open to the participation of anybody who can contribute value and is willing to work with the community.
We should ensure, through our participation in the various local and international (formal and informal) Joomla groups, teams and structures, that we realise these ideals.
Get involved in the Joomla Community
If you are a user of the Joomla CMS, and would also like to get involved in one of the community teams, you can visit the Joomla! Volunteers Portal.
You should also consider getting involved in one of our local Joomla User Groups, or plan to attend a JoomlaDay Event near you.
