Joomla Security Team Sprint, Cologne, May 2018. I guess we all agree that it's one of Joomla's key priorities to offer a software that is as secure as possible, as this plays a crucial role in the user's experience running Joomla - a hacked user, is a very unhappy user.

As you may know, Custom Fields were introduced in 2017 with the release of Joomla 3.7. Many of us are aware of their existence, but not everybody has already realised how powerful these are or had the opportunity to exploit them. The idea of this article is to present a few recent projects which have used Custom Fields. Hopefully this will stimulate many of us to give it a try and to start to play with them. And I think it is really worth it : Custom Fields bring Joomla to another level.

Recently we were approached by the Chairpersons of the Carson City Coin Collectors of America. We were told that they most likely would have to shut down their Joomla 1.0.15 website with a Fireboard 1.0.3 forum, as they had not been able to find a Joomla Developer to assist them. Their site urgently needed an upgrade to the latest version of Joomla and a good new forum, without losing any existing forum entries or uploaded images.

On 28 March 2018, the Joomla! User Group Melbourne hosted the first ever Joomla! Certification exam in Melbourne, Australia. We ended up with 7 new Joomla! Administrators, from 8 people who chose to sit the exam (and the 8th who was quite new to Joomla wasn't far off and is keen to try again!). Our JUG went through a bit of a journey together to achieve an excellent overall result, which I thought was worth sharing.
