At the time of the writing of this article, Joomla 1.6 is scheduled to launch on January 10th. All Joomla! User Groups (JUGs) and Joomla! developers and community members around the world are encouraged to plan a celebration in the two week period from January 24 - February 7. Eat Joomla! cake! Take pictures! Make videos! Follow the joomla.org Community blog and Twitter for upcoming details.
Joomla 1.6 is delivered on the shoulders of a vital community, where the contribution of each and every one matters. It is made possible by the hard work of the Production Leadership Team, and all those who have helped to report and squash bugs, write documentation and translations, and have supported Joomla! in so many ways, from sponsoring the project, to informative and instructive blogging.
This launch brings innovation we've all been eagerly awaiting. The work isn't over, but a new era has begun. As we start the New Year with a new Joomla! version, let's all come together to celebrate the moment, and show the world that when the code is done, we know how to have fun!
