French lawyer by training and fascinated by the digital economy, I naturally turned to the intellectual property rights and in particular those connected with Copyrights and with OpenSource.
I discovered Joomla! with the CMS, and still remain a real supporter, I also have discovered a fabulous Community of Women and Men with whom I like to share.
With Sandra, we're trying today to make our modest contribution to this Community in particular by participating in the creation of a JUG for the Caribbean, but always by thinking that " alone, we go faster. Together, we go farther … "

Marcus Tullius Cicero

Marcus Tullius Cicero

Quite some time ago I wrote a nice text about Good & Evil. Things have not changed so very much over the ages: still you have good guys and bad guys (M/F), open source and closed source, idealists and opportunists.

Although I wrote that text with care, it was not always handled well. And so pieces and bits (sic!) ended up in what might be the best known Latin text of this modern era: "Lorem ipsum". See some more background of it's history in this Wikipedia article. Even within Joomla! you can easily use it. Unfortunately only as "filler text"; there is not much left from the original wisdom.

Some think that modern people are more clever than we were in the old days. But I tell you: we've seen it all. We commented on so called "new" things allready thousands of years ago! Like:

  • "Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi" (about ACL)
  • "Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur" (about SEO)

So, I hope you can still learn something from us, the antiques. Maybe you'll remember us when you choose Times New Roman or Palatino as your font. Or when you linger around on a Forum. I've done it too. And I also spent more time on debate than on writing code...

Matias Aguirre

Matias Aguirre is a young Argentine programmer with extensive experience in open source systems and events involving Free Software in Latin America and the world. A fervent advocate of open source has been used since 1996 free systems using Slackware GNU / Linux as a development platform.

By the year 1999 met the PHP programming language and over time was developing, fixing and improving management systems like Mambo free, Wordpress and Joomla! the latter being among the large community preferences and quality of developed code.

In the absence of solutions in the field of data migration between versions, in January 2008 created the migration tool
called mtwMigrator that migrates data from a Joomla! 1.0 to Joomla! 1.5. This tool was very useful to users and Joomla! and opened the way to the development of jUpgrade with input and support all Joomla! community as well as major developers of Joomla!

Matt Carnali

Is a founding partner and the lead web designer for AandCmediaConsulting.com. Over the past several years, Matt has developed multiple websites. One of the first websites he designed was for a local soccer club for a community service project in high school. After designing the site, he fell in love with web design and server hosting. This led him to build a server at his house from an older computer. Eventually he brought the server online and hosted a web redirect to provide more open access to various websites. He then continued to develop his skills by building additional and more complex websites that include: CollegeOutlet, HitTheRack and one for his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order. He also designed several sites for smaller companies. His passion is to take a person’s vision and develop it into a complete website. Matt is currently pursuing computer related courses at JMU to help him further enhance his career in web design. He later partnered with Steven Aquino to form A&C Media Consulting. He is now teaching a 1 credit web design class at JMU. He is also interning at Capital One's technical development program.
